TonyP Posted April 30, 2011 Report Share Posted April 30, 2011 I'm trying to file an Indiana IT-40PNR tax return but am getting no option to do so after clicking on the e-file icon; only option is federal e-file. The Indiana form that I've opened and complete are their IT-8879 and their EF info, yet after completing those forms (I believe),... I get no option to E-file a IT-40PNR for my client. Catherine Posted May 3, 2011 Report Share Posted May 3, 2011 I had an IN NR return this year and couldn't e-file. Read the instructions online at the state site; they do NOT accept NR return e-files. David1980 Posted May 6, 2011 Report Share Posted May 6, 2011 IN does allow the non-resident forms to be efiled. However, only with MeF, which of course doesn't accept everything. So basically, since a lot of software doesn't support MeF yet, and a lot of forms cannot be sent through MeF anyway, most people cannot efile the NR Indiana forms. It's a confusing state since at first glance at their documentation you would think it could be done, until you realize they only allow it through the EF system that handles a very small number of returns.
