  1. Past hour
  2. You just hang onto the letter and wait for the dust to settle. If they send a 2nd letter, then mail them proof of payment.
  3. I just got a letter today CP14, asking for money that I paid on April 23 with an EFT that cleared the bank. Plus penalty and interest. How do we reason with such craziness. No phone number on this letter.
  4. Today
  5. Can a 2023 NYS amended return be e-filed and if so, does the whole return get sent or just the IT 201-X? Haven't had to do one of these for awhile so just not sure, Thank you.
  6. Yeah, you need last year's server running. You probably haven't lost anything, ATX just can't find it.
  7. See if this Knowledge base link solves your problem: https://support.cch.com/oss/sfs/kb/solution/000196808
  8. Max: That worked, at least it shows my application status as completed. Thank you to all for assistance! Good luck Margaret with your move in July! If you need help when you do your changes for your EFIN, the Ehelp desk can access your application while you are in it. The young lady who helped me was great. E-help # 1-866-255-0654.
  9. any tips on how to find it again? I have not had this happen before. But I did have to re-install my software after a thunderstorm a few days ago. Maybe I lost stuff then
  10. Like my old accounting professor used to say, 'Old accountants never die, they just get out of balance.'
  11. I remember all the names. But I don't always remember what happened to them. I think KC retired.
  12. Thanks Max, I will give it a try.
  13. Yes, I do have an ID.ME account. I've had for at least 5 years. It's used mostly for obtaining transcripts online.
  14. Yesterday
  15. I assume you have an ID.me account, because I don't and I can't get in.
  16. She sent it to my phone, which is always very hard for me to read.
  17. Click E-services; > e-file services > efile application. then click the little eye under View/Edit. This takes you to the summary page where you will see the categories underlined in Green at the top of the page. click the first one - Firm info, then start making changes. I just updated mine when I saw this post. The only problem is at the end they ask for a PIN to accept terms, but it won't take any input. Maybe its not required on an update? HTH
  18. That is my issue as well. I had the login.gov. I did the ID.me account on Saturday.
  19. I, too, have only the login.gov.
  20. I get a sick stomach every time I think of setting up an ID.me account. I have to, though, in order to get my husband's meds from the VA. I have also had a login.gov account for some time.
  21. I don't know when it changed, but now it appears that the only way to access your EFIN account is with an ID.me account? I have a login.gov account but I don't have an ID.me account.
  22. Sounds somewhat like my client's letter. Have you seen this letter? More than likely it has a phone number to call. At the end of my client's letter it said that if they didn't receive direction of what to do with the overpayment within 3 months, that a refund would be mailed to my client
  23. I just had a client receive a letter saying that they cannot apply their overpayment to the next year estimates. No reason;; no way to find out why, no way to question the letter, no indication of further correspondence. Now what? I say, "Ignore!". I checked Where's My Refund". No refund pending. Duh!!!
  24. My saving Grace is that I print all of my own. The simpler, the better because I don't believe most clients give it a second look even though I do have it nicely laid out and assembled. I don't plan on moving, but the Power Plant across the road might have different ideas. At the same time, I am playing this game year by year anyway. I haven't done an engagement letter in years and they all keep coming back and bringing others. This is the year that I put an end to the "others". You will both be fine. The quality of your work speaks volumes for you. Best of luck to both of you and don't leave us. We need all the help that we can get.
  25. Did you see this page under "Maintainingyour EFIN"? Like I said, it's been years, but when I changed my address and then when I added additional services, I'm pretty sure that I opened my application and made the changes and had to resubmit it. I don't remember it saying that it was a new application, but it did seem like I was reapplying because of having to "submit" the application. https://www.irs.gov/tax-professionals/how-to-maintain-monitor-and-protect-your-efin
  26. Thank you for the replies. I am moving from my office building of 25 years to a small room in my house. I have donated to Mission Central 5 computers and alot of office equipment and supplies. I am going to do about 20 family returns and 5 client/friends. My office was doing a little over 1000 returns. I had 3 full time and 3 part time employees. All 3 full timers decided they were ready to retire. Two were with me 35 years and the 3rd 15 years. I do not want to start over with new staff. I will not have business cards or letterhead. Judy, I did see where to click for a new application. I did not think that was correct. I will go back in on Monday to see if I can figure it out. It's a shame when it seems more difficult to change your address and phone number than it is to do a tax return.
  27. Great response, Judy. I think I don't really have a problem. Your 'fixes' seem more than adequate and I'm certain my clients don't really care. The ones who get printed client copies of returns just want my maroon (wine color, actually) folder that they have been getting for up to 25 years. I can do that! Thanks again!
  28. I decided not to purchase stationery when I moved and got only new business cards. I do have shipping labels printed with my name & address that I can also use on tax folders, colors do match the folders so it looks nice. I don't use these regularly on folders for all returns, only oddball returns that I haven't printed out labels for at the beginning of the season. For letterhead, I created that as a template in MS-Word. I usually print on plain paper, but if you want it to be nicer without engraved stationery, you could buy heavier weight bond if you think the recipient notices or cares. No preprinted envelopes either. They are either run through my printer, again a template, or I use clear Avery address labels using the same font as the letterhead. I use these on a variety of envelopes including small return envelopes that go with invoices or balance due reminders. I guess it depends on how much your image depends on these, and how much your clients would notice or care. Mine don't care, and the template works better for anyone that gets the correspondence by pdf attachment rather than snail mail. Sorry for the derail from the Efin addy change, and if this portion gets lots of responses,I may move to its own topic.
