  1. Yep, that's what I would do also! (Had a new client who uses Paychex write a separate $3,000 bonus check to an employee, not through Paychex. Don't know what I'll do, but it will include the riot act.)

  2. H & R fees usually are based on geographical area and are not the same in two places. The other companies seem to range as well. Here is what I know. My fees for individual returns are always less than any of the Corporate boys because mine are fair and resonable and do not include rip-off scams. On the other hand, fees for corp, estate;etc are something I don't compare as the service provided is not comparable. I understand the desire to be competative but if you give above the board service, the business will come. As a rule, the most expensive is not always the best and you don't have to be the cheapest to be the best at what you do or offer. You do have to determine what the market are you are in can withstand.

  4. This is year 30 for me - - --semi-retired a few years ago. I could NOT handle the 600+ - - - -YES that was 600 tax returns that I prepared about 10 years ago. Thank heavens tuition was done, so there was no urgent need for me to kill myself every eyar. Did I mention, I work alone - - -yep - - all by myself. And for some reason, I agree, I have no interest this year. Maybe it's the 2 new knees I was fortunate enough to get in May - - -maybe it's that my husband semi retired and is home more - - -maybe it's the REALLY unusual weather we have had here in Buffalo lately. But, I am ever grateful for ev eryone on this forum! Good Luck this season to all!

  5. I worked for William for may years in Tech Support. I was the guy he went to when no one else could figure it out. William saved me my telling me to take a positioon in Development, as he knew the support days in Caribou were numbered. I will try to answer as many technical questions as I can.

  7. Michael G, I must say it is great to have you here to answer these tricky software questions! Makes me realize how much I've missed William- he provided the same kind of background info that really helps us understand the programming end of things, not to mention quick help on these issues. Thank you!!!!!
