  1. There is another issue afoot. The back-up folder for 2013 will grow by as much as 1GB per client. If you are choosing to use the option for backing up to an additional location such as a flash drive or external drive, this can be a big problem. It can also cause a problem for hard drive space on the C drive of the computers whether the server, standalone or workstation. The program filled the C drive on my server at the firm to 95% from just under 40% originally, in just the 6 weeks I have been testing and working with the program. The Back-up folder was 90GB with just over 200 clients in my testing program. The problem is still inherent in the program. At my home office, I had the same issue and found the back-up folder for ATX2013 to also be the source. I have already reported this to the development team and today received a response. The problem has been solved and will be included in a future program update. I will also be contacted with a short term fix for this issue. Just as soon as tech support contacts me with a workaround, I will post it here. Till then, if you notice your system running slow, look at the amount of free space on the C drive. If the free space is not at least 10-15% of the total drive space, this may be part of the problem. When a drive gets below 10% free space, it's efficiency drops dramatically.

  4. I changed my mind. I don't feel comfortable recommending a video card. I believe it has a PCI Express 2.0 slot for a video card, but it's a slim line case, and so standard sized video cards are physically too tall to fit. There are special short cards that could fit, but I've never used one, and I'd be too afraid to recommend something that will end up not fitting in your computer case. Best (easiest?) bet is probably to go the USB adapter route. Just make sure that the other end of the adapter matches up with the port on your monitor.

  5. ATX for tax prep. Do not use for Payroll. Qbooks for my business and personal accounting and all the folks who bring their accounting work on it for year end reporting. 1099-ETC for all other payroll applications. Rich

  6. That's exactly what I was waiting for. CDs are made in November or before. I will install tomorrow and start testing on Saturday with a new client to whom I will not give any print out until the following Saturday.

  7. That makes sense... I have a new Dell bought last summer... only one "plug" available on back of CPU... So apparently the "splitter" cable I bought is just good for things like presentations. Same image on both monitors. That is why I my configuration doesn't work. It only shows one monitor. So I have to purchase and install a dual monitor video card... this will be a new experience for me! I have never upgraded a computer before. Everyone says it is a simple install. We will see how handy I am... Thanks to everyone for your help. I have been warned that there is only one problem with working Dual Monitors.... once you do you never want to go back to one!

  8. FIRST!! You must install an video card that supports TWO monitors. All the stuff you have been trying is useless until you do. Once you install the video card, you can then configure the two monitors. My answer wins by facts!!

  9. Most newer computers (say in the last 3-4 years) have a video card with the ability to support 2 monitors as a standard feature. Unless you bought something really cheap. Tom Hollister, CA

  12. Taxtrio, here is Microsoft's video of how to set it up : http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Move-windows-between-multiple-monitors?fwLinkID=162499 I found this by going to my start menu, clicking Help & Support, and then searching that section for "Dual Monitors". There's a little more info there, but not much. Hope this helps.

  13. I do not e-file 1099s till third week of Feb. to allow time for errors to be corrected simply. Therefore, I have not tried transmitting. Give yourself time. I am not sure when ATX will start accepting them, or if there is date restriction for filing.
