  1. You're right. Can't believe I've gone this entire filing season without posting a link to it...

  2. Alabama State TurboTax Software Intuit is helping taxpayers in Alabama after errors were uncovered in its state income tax software that led some taxpayers to inadvertently overpay or underpay their taxes. The company is working with Alabama’s Department of Revenue on an outreach effort after errors were found in Intuit’s TurboTax Alabama state tax software. The company said the errors mostly occurred in uncommon tax situations and have now been fixed. Intuit is helping Alabama taxpayers amend and resubmit their state tax returns so they can claim an additional refund or pay any balance that may be due. “Each year, Intuit helps millions of taxpayers and tax professionals successfully file complete and accurate tax returns,” said Intuit vice president Bob Meighan in a statement Wednesday. “Any error is important to us and our customers can rest assured that we’ll work diligently to resolve it. Intuit takes responsibility for the accuracy of our tax products. As part of our continuous quality assurance process, when we discover an error we take the necessary and appropriate steps to resolve it. We stand behind our Accuracy Guarantee and will reimburse TurboTax customers for penalties or interest.

  3. e-services passwords expire every six months. Did you remember to change it? You can't use any password remotely close to any you've used in the past four years either. And they wonder why folks do the forbidden and write their passwords down (hopefully not on a sticky note on the front of the computer screen). Logging into e-services is always an experience. I am registered for three users (one for where I work and TWO for me?) If I can't get in under one I just try another. Sometimes nothing happens, or it brings me to the welcome screen for e-services (no access to transcripts). So I just try again, same user or different, and eventually it goes through. I believe that sometimes the system just isn't working at that moment. Often I just exit and start all over again and get in. Try giving e-services a call. I found them to be helpful when I registered but still couldn't access transcripts. They said I had to efile X number of returns before I could get in. (There's a rule about that--is that your problem maybe?) When I told them I was an EA exempt from that rule, they acted surprised and said no one had checked that box on their end. I gained instant access. Even so, getting in is frustrating but I persevere and usually succeed eventually.

  10. Keeping everything secure is going to be a never ending battle. I miss the 20th century. Things were either so simple or we were very innocent and naïve back then. Seems like yesterday.

  13. This post has made me realize 3 things about myself: 1. I'm not intolerant. 2. I can be polite as usual, even under extenuating circumstances. 3. I'm not a son of a bitch, unless I should be, it's those extenuating circumstances that makes everything alright if I tend to lose it a little . It's nice to know I'm normal and not alone. Thanks everyone for saving me a ton of money at the next practitioner therapy session. I'll be spending the savings on a nice dinner somewhere.
