  3. IR-2021-154, July 19, 2021 WASHINGTON — The Internal Revenue Service today launched a new feature that will give taxpayers digital control over who can represent them or view their tax records, a groundbreaking step in the agency's expansion of electronic options for taxpayers and tax professionals. The new feature, one of many recent enhancements to the Online Account for individuals, will allow individual taxpayers to authorize their tax practitioner to represent them before the IRS with a Power of Attorney (POA) and to view their tax accounts with a Tax Information Authorizations (TIA). https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-improves-services-to-taxpayers-with-digital-authorizations-and-launch-of-new-tax-pro-account

  5. You may have noticed that their basic CP notices now have QR codes on them. They will be pushing CP Notice recipients to download an IRS App and use AI Bots to handle standard notices without human intervention. It may fail, but it's clear to me that the IRS is totally committed to this direction.

  6. It is close. I have a sadistic daydream that Bill Gates is in purgatory and he needs to remember every single password he ever created to get out, and his version of microsoft operating system crashes every time when he gets about 95% through the list. Control + Alt + Delete and start over dude! I know I should not wish this on anybody, but I can't help it. Tom Sparks, NV

  7. Thanx. I agree that I'm good enough to go for 2020. They did their own returns before me. They hired me to prepare their biz returns about 2009 (NOT the biz that sends this K-1). A few years later, they added their personal returns. No 6198 in prior personal returns; I always ask for three years. The husband who had been preparing their returns developed early-onset Alzheimer's. The K-1s without basis info come from wife's father's two businesses for which he prepares the tax returns, filing on paper to Ogden; father must be at least in his mid-80s. Thank you, everyone. I managed to get parents' return enough to lock down their tax rate and have their investments entered, and got sister's investments entered and return ready to proofread. So, I let software calculate brother's return with Kiddie Tax. He eSigned, and I e-filed. He flies off to Jordan on Tuesday to start his Fulbright program. Whew! Now to start reading up on Fulbright Scholarship taxation... Again, thank you, everyone who helped on my two frantic topics this week.
