  1. I will be at my yacht having lunch with a few tax clients and then I will prepare a few returns, thus qualifying my yacht as a business expen$e, including, but not limited to insurance, taxes, interest, slip rental, fuel, maintenance, repairs, and depreciation.:-)

  2. I will probably eat in Lebanon, TN at O'Charley's on the way to Murfreesboro where MY BABY IS PLAYING IN THE BOY'S STATE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT. I am not excited about that at all. See profile picture.

  3. Yes, I had that guy, too! Went online and set up an LLC cause he heard it was a good idea. Continues to pay everything out of the personal account. Made his three-year-old twins partners. Had that home office, too, so he could write off all his commuting miles to the actual office. I told him he was too smart for me, and that he would need an expert who would also charge him enough to make the legal and professional expenses deduction worthwhile.

  4. yes, it is a happier time of year. Just had a new client couple walk out of here with a $39000 capital gain on a rental property that they owed minimal tax on. They are retired and were so scared when they first came in. They bought the property in 1973 for hardly anything and have rented it out for all of these years. Of course, there were major improvements over the years, but nothing that cost a lot of money. They were basically taxed on the addback of the depreciation which wasn't a lot because they never paid a lot for anything. Nice to see a happy ending. They owe both Fed and WI, but not a fraction of what they were expecting. Hugs all around on this one.

  5. I agree completely. This time of year is much more enjoyable for me. The returns tend to be more challenging (and are charged higher fees), but as you stated, the clients are usually more patient. Most of them that owe are not surprised and those getting refunds are not in a hurry for them. and more importantly, these are not clients like many earlier in the season who are getting free government handouts (EITC) from my hard-earned tax dollars. seeing someone pay $500 in taxes and get back $6,000 just leaves a bad taste in my mouth
