  1. My previous computer died, and I (perhaps unfortunately) bought an off-the-shelf Dell computer, with Windows Vista 64 preloaded. I have installed all my previous software. All software works properly, except for the following: I am able to print from Firefox, Mozilla Thunderbird, Excel, Word and Peachtree. I am unable to print from QB 2002 and 2005 (probably not too surprising, as they are not Vista compatible). However, I am not able to print from ATX 2008 or 2007. The software doesn't even recognize the print command--nothing happens. I assume some members of the board have Windows Vista 64 on their computers and have been able to print. Any suggestions? Thanks, RDennis

    Server still down

I just tried to transmit four, and two went through. Then, I re-sent one and it went through. I tried to resend the other, and it didn't go through. So, it seems to be sporadic. R. Dennis
  4. I received my renewal notice for MAX by e-mail today. The cost is apparently up $90, with a 10% discount if paid by May 31. Last year, it appears that the 10% discount continued until June 30. Though, I renewed on May 31 last year, with that teaser that one could win up to $3,000 if renewed by that date. R. Dennis
  5. There is a taxable amount only for those folks who retired under FERS. The folks that retired under CSRS fall under three categories--ones who retired before July 2, 1986, those who retired between that date and before November 19, 1996, and finally those who retired after that date. You shouldn't have to recompute the taxable amount for the third category, or those who retired under FERS. For more information, see IRS Pub 721. Dennis
  6. Yes, the original contributions box is the investment in the contract. If the person retired under the new system (FERS), the taxable annuity has been computed, using the new rules. If the person retired under the old system (CSRS), you have to compute the taxable annuity, and there will be no amount in the taxable annuity box. Sounds as if the person retired under FERS (which started 1/1/1984). Dennis
  7. Should be health insurance payments--retired civil service payments can retain their health insurance. Dennis
  8. I have never prepared a severance tax return. However, refer to the following booklet. The address is on page 2. See:http://www.revenue.state.co.us/PDF/0721.pdf Dennis
  9. Try Gorton's new Talapia. Lightly breaded, very tasty with just a hint of lemon. Fairly low in sodium and fat. Yum!!
  10. Thanks for the instructions on synchronization. I had totally forgotten about using it--or how to do it. I hadn't needed to use it in years. It worked--I got the ack from several days ago.
  11. I see this is on their website now: "Transmission Issues 2/21/2008 We are aware of the communication issues and have development working to resolve. You may be able to communicate sometimes, and sometimes not. It is simply hit and miss at this point. Solution: just keep trying to connect and you will get thru eventually. Of course, this has greatly increased the call volume to the CS Dept, so you will have a difficult time calling CS for other issues until this is resolved." Not terribly encouraging!!
  12. That didn't last long. Now, it shows a server error. I am still awaiting acceptance from Colorado--four days now on one. Dennis
  13. It appears to me that there is a new program update. Once I downloaded that, I was able to receive acknowledgments. Dennis

    Colarado Tax?

Eli, yes, you should file the 104PN, so that the taxpayer pays tax on only the income earned while in Colorado. Otherwise, just the normal 104 and, if there are credits or AMT, the CR and AMT forms. Dennis
  15. No, I still can't get on with either Firefox or IE.
  16. I've had the same error all day, as well. But, I also use Firefox. I have just tried it in IE and get the log on screen. I input everything and then get the same screen as I do in Firefox. Dennis

    Colarado Tax?

The Colorado forms are there and have been for several weeks--the 104, 104-CR, 104-AMT, etc. You may have to manually download those forms. Dennis
  18. 10sorTax is correct. There is basically no extra taxes in Colorado, except AMT.
  19. KC, Colorado doesn't require 1099s to be sent to them. So, I guess that means I don't see anything about it when I have e-filed. And, that's why I haven't known about it. Does that seem right?
  20. Oops, I didn't do that correctly. KC, am I missing something? I have been filing 1096s with 1099s for several years, but have not filed (or prepared) the 6847. Thanks, Dennis
  21. iratax--Isn't 1040 Office exactly what you want for a cost of $595--e-filing for the first 100 return? Dennis
