  1. Call your sales rep. We are NOT part of ATX or CCH.
  2. 1) Call your sales rep and complain. He/she can direct you to Customer Support. FYI, Customer Support DOES exist for PPR customers. 2) '?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>> 3) You would have been given all the information you need to log onto MYATX. It was in the package that contained your software. If it was not included, see answer #1.
  3. This website is NOT part of ATX or CCH. This website was set up for tax professionals to share information and help with tax issues. You need to go to the official ATX board that you access from www.myatx.com.
  4. This is a website for tax professionals. I will not be a party to helping someone use software in violation of the license agreement. My assistance on this matter is finished.
  5. Do you have valid PTIN#? As I said, a word to the WISE is sufficient.
  6. Seems ironic to me that a preparer would expect his clients to follow IRS regulations, but yet would thoughtlessly ignore parts of the licensing agreement for the software he/she uses? The software license is location specific, and so is your EFIN. If you prepare returns from another location using VPN at your main office, you violate both agreements as well as risk messing up the program. A word to the wise should be sufficient...
  7. How many tax returns do you do in a season?
  8. ATX2013 does not support VPN. Using VPN to log into ATX from another work location violates the license agreement, and adds unnecessary complications to the program and files. Why have standalones if you have a network? If you have multiple office locations, you must have multiple licenses and multiple EFINs. Buying MAX is simply an installation code, and the PPR returns should be in the new version. Check with tech support to be certain. I do not understand all the complex steps and problems user create to avoid and try to circumvent license agreements.
  9. The system here at the firm seemed to do both places. However, I have not checked in about an hour. I will look again. Even so, it should be done where I described and not through the admin console.
  10. Either use a network setup or a single standalone computer. The method you are trying is not supported. Use the method I gave you for backing up to an external device. Read the notification information if you do not believe me. Stay out of the admin console unless directed by tech support.
  11. Hmmmm.... I have not experienced that. The only way the 2012 would look for the CD is if there is no internet connection.
  12. Backup to a separate device. In return manager, click on "returns", then click on "Backup returns". Click on "Copy backups to local storage," and choose where you want the additional backup put. Be aware, the backup file may be large and I recommend at least 64GB on the device you backup to. Then going forward, the backups will be done both places.
  13. Did the tech offer to send the files to development for them to find what was causing the issue?
  14. There were several suggestions they did adopt. They devoted 100% of their resources for 2013 to produce a stable reliable program. I am hoping, although as much stink as I have raised with them it may be iffy, to be asked back again in September. To my best observation, the program, if installed correctly, is stable and dependable with a few upgrades that have been requested. The program will never be as fast as it was in 2011, and is not as fast as some other programs on the market, but there are many features that ATX has that others do not. The MFS vs MFJ is only a real important issue in a few states, so it does not get the same priority as something that would affect everyone. If you have more questions, feel free to send me a message. I have much information that I may be able to help you with.
  15. 1) NO. This is another issue that we presented very strongly at the CAB meeting in September. Not fixed for 2013. 2) NO. It is still a manual process. Another item we pushed hard for at the CAB meeting.
  16. Eric made changes to the site. I did not implement any of the workarounds he suggested. No problems since the changes were made to the site.
  17. Your process will not work in 2013 and PPR. You must forget everything you knew about how the program installed and worked from all previous years. You need to network the computers you will be using. The PPR function may make it impossible to reinstall. It is counting each import as starting a new return. 2013 is not like any previous years. It is not designed to support the process you are trying to use.
  18. Yes, the employer must add it to boxes 1, 3 & 5. It is no longer a 125 expense so it is taxable to the employee. This would have been the case even without the ACA. It is then up to the employee to take a deduction for the medical insurance premiums he is paying. This will result in increased taxes for most of the employees that lose employer provided coverage and are reimbursed by the employer. Especially since the floor for medical deductions is now 10%. ACA supporters do not like and usually refuse to talk about this increase in tax.
  19. I have 4 computers at home, 14 at the firm all using IE11, and not a single instance of the trouble you are mentioning. Troubleshooting techs are easy to blame a new version of a web browser instead of looking deep enough to see if the problem is something else that didn't matter in the older browser. IE11 patched security holes and many other shortcomings that users have complained about for years. Now things like firewalls, Anti-virus, toolbars, internet protection suites, security settings etc,, all make a difference. Easy to blame the new kid than to dig to find the real problem. Spoken from the experiences I have had. No compatibility issues ANYWHERE with IE11.
  20. Open the return in the 2012. Remove any notes that you have attached to any fields. Save and close. Then rollover again.
  21. He created and implemented it. He also swears by Google Chrome. He spent 3 days at Sylvan headquarters rolling the new website out and making all the configurations to get it working. He also maintains it. It just makes his day when he "outsmarts" his old man!! (I make a big fuss, but inside I am bursting with pride!!)
  22. The issue you described is NOT an issue with WIN7 and IE11. It is poor construction on the SSA website. My son is a software engineer that designs and implements websites. I asked him and he echoed my sentiment. To verify that he is qualified, check his latest production. http://www.sylvanlearning.com/ It is a wonderful thing to have a son that is much more intelligent than you to keep you up to speed! (I exploit his knowledge and intelligence at every opportunity!)
  23. I have stayed using IE. Currently IE11 and have not had the issue you mentioned. Your issue sounds like an anti-virus program or a software firewall. I don't use FireFox so I have no answer for your question about increasing the size. Try google for the answer.
  24. File with both W-2's. Use the SS# on the return. If the taxpayer followed the proper steps to obtain his SS#, The IRS has already merged his ITIN and his SS# in their records. You are WAY overthinking this one.
