  1. Currently, the development team is TOTALLY AWARE (partly due to Tom and I) of the problem. I was on the phone 3 1/2 hours testing a workaround. The problem will be corrected very soon in a program update. If anyone has hard drive space issues, I have a temporary fix I can assist you with. Far too complex to list on here, but if anyone has this issue, send me a PM and I will gladly help get you back to normal. I have tested this fix on the server at my firm, and my computer here at home. I can assure you it will work.
  2. The changes are on Schedule C. If the business is going to show a loss, or the standard rate would drive a loss, then the regular method is the correct method to use, including using Form 8829. To use the regular method, do not input any home office information on the Schedule C and use 8829 as before. Any entry in the home office area on Schedule C blanks out 8829.
  3. If you had updated to net 4.5 last year, as recommended, the restart would not have happened. Editor's note: My computer that I use to earn my living being rebooted to make the tax software reliable trumps my online chatting. Besides, FaceBook would have reopened and all your conversations would still be intact.
  4. I do NOT let clients see my computer screen. The third monitor would be positioned in the center and turned vertical. Imagine how much of a page you could see... This is the setup my software engineer son uses.
  5. Are you using ATX?
  6. Try duplicating the return in 2012 and the rollover the duplicate. Slim chance, but it may just work.
  7. Agree with Eric on this one. Dell is so very D_m__d proprietary and that is the reason I do not buy from them.
  8. 62 minutes now... Could be interesting!! Here I am at the cutting edge again!!!
  9. I know several board members here use Medlin. Does it support e-file of 1099, W-2 and 94X series?
  10. I do both.
  11. I am currently online with tech support working on a remedy. More information as I get it.
  12. You will need to add at least one video card. You will need a video card that supports 4 monitors (yes, they are out there) because most likely, the motherboard will detect the new video card and disable the two video connections you are now using. Not only will this give you the third monitor, but room to grow to 4.
  13. I have not seen that error before. Try opening the return in 2012, then click save, then close the return and attempt to roll it over again.
  14. This post confused me.... This year and last year have NOTHING in common as far as installation and how the program runs. FORGET ALL YOU KNEW from all prior years. The installation process is entirely different.
  15. You either have a standalone, or a network. How many computers will you be using ATX2013 on.
  16. Not possible. This is one of the traits of a true server compliant program. 64GB flash Drives are $39. 2TB external drives are $99. These are the sizes you should be using for backups.
  17. Are you standalone, or do you have more than one computer you will be using the ATX program on?
  18. 2GB will probably not hold the file. Read my initial post in its ENTIRETY!!
  19. Seems so. I would give you this advice now. Things have progressed and changed. Go to the MYATX site and download the software install file. Install on all your machines using it. Hang the install CD on the wall for a decoration.
  20. FIRST!! You must install an video card that supports TWO monitors. All the stuff you have been trying is useless until you do. Once you install the video card, you can then configure the two monitors. My answer wins by facts!!
  21. Nope. Read my entire post.
  22. Unreasonable paranoia.
  23. I have not adopted the concept of needing to block out SS# information to the people who are supposed to have it.
  24. Here is the latest... This can be seen by clicking on the Notification Flag Icon in Return Manager. Wednesday, January 22, 2014 Payroll program: errors efiling 1099s and 94x returns Scenario: some users have been unable to efile these returns at all. You receive an error during the transmission attempt "Failed to connect to an EFC Server" Solution: We are updating the Payroll product tomorrow. Once you install that update, you can efile those returns. Posted by Stephanie Bradford at 5:39 PM Labels: ATX, Efile, Payroll
  25. That works if you don't have any depreciating assets, carryovers etc that were generated or added in 2012....
