I sleep just fine and have complete peace of mind about my computer equipment. I more worry about the replacement fluorescent bulbs that have been installed in place of incandescent. The number of fires created by them going bad is huge!

I still stand in favor or removing the political forum. Less chance of tissue paper feelings being hurt that way. If we can prevent even one person from having hurt feelings, we should shut down the political forum.

Are they one of the companies helping design the Obamacare website?

Math and facts are wrong. All computers sleep or hibernate. In sleep or hibernate mode they use less than 10 watts. The same as 2 night lights. 10 watts X 16 hours = 160 Watt/hours = .16KWH .16KWH @ $.10 per KWH = $.014 per day. 365 days @ $.014 = $5.11 per year while idle. The rest of his logic is strictly opinion. I do not like to wait for systems to boot. Moving the mouse, 1 second later I have the login screen. There is no damage to turning them off or leaving them on. Another urban myth.

Oh Ms. Principal moderator... He made fun of me!!!!!!
-
Been working on and using computers since 1980. The worst I have seen is finding a DOA system when opening in the morning.
-
Understand what you are saying. However, this is JUST A DISCUSSION BOARD on the internet. Big difference than the situations you were faced with as a law enforcement officer.
-
I/we leave all computers on 24/7. Been doing this for over 7 years. No issues. The concept that you must turn computers off when they are not being used is an urban myth. At the firm, we have some computers that have only been turned off for maintenance or occasional reboots for 5 years.

I do not see, nor have seen this trait in Washington DC in over 40 years.... No evidence to support your position. Sorry....

Intuit is in bed with Google.

I thought that this discussion board was inhabited by GROWN ADULTS? Did I miss something about "tissue paper feelings" being catered to. School children get the teacher or principal to intervene when being "picked on." I thought as grown adults, we were to be much more mature about how we handle such perceived "being picked on." As an adult, I do not need a moderator to play the part of the school teacher or principal. I am a grown adult. Just my opinion.

Official ATX forum community

They are a long way from earning my respect enough to even log in. I spoke to Carrie, the main mod on the official site, at the CAB meeting. Carrie is a very nice sweet lady. I stand by my position. -
Official ATX forum community

I have not even logged into the official board since the day they shut it down on April 7, 2007, right at the height of tax season. CCH has not yet earned my respect enough for me to even log in. Most, if not all, the most knowledgeable ATX users moved here. -
The NDA will not allow me to speak about my research or my findings. Check your messages.
-
Only if you have use for them...
-
Not of the tax software, but the options are things like the Fixed Asset Manager and other add-ons. Approx value $100-$200.
-
You must be kidding!!!!!!! "As a way of saying thank you for your time and honest feedback, you will receive a one-year license for one of four CCH Small Firm Services products at no charge upon completion of your assigned ATX 2013 Preview tasks."
-
After much research, testing and observation, here is what I have to share. The NDA that I signed with CCH prevents me from saying much of what I would like to say, so here is the scoop… The firm I work for and myself at my private practice are staying with ATX for 2013. This was decided after dozens of hours of trial, much research, scenario contemplation and consideration of options. I have observed that many of the problems that existed for 2012 should not be issues in 2013. The development team has been working very hard to bring a workable product to the table for 2013.

So "Holier than thou" is not?
-
Agreed. That would be the best process.....
-
Replace them with WIN 7 PRO systems. You are beating a dead horse. There will be no ability to update XP at all after April 2014 and ATX will not support XP for tax year 2014. Hardware is inexpensive.

IE 11 is the most secure browser from Microsoft to date. I have updated all my/our computers with no issues at all. Slight differences in processes is all from a user standpoint.

Each client is assigned a specific number. There is a 3 key step to find that number while in a return. Then that number identifies the file. Call tech support and ask. I will not post the keystrokes, but have used it hundreds of times in the past 11 years of using ATX. "Holier than thou" should have been... "More informed than most choose to be."
