  1. I have a very strong personal objection to even think about being paid to take care of my own mother. As a society, this is absolutely atrocious.
  2. What "religious" groups have you been a part of, or interacted with personally that espouse the things you just said? My life experience does not support your broad brush generalizations.
  3. Prayers from SW Ohio too!! For her AND you!!
  4. That is not on the radar for at least 5 years. This from an IRS employee in the compliance department. Don't even dream of it.
  5. Please read my posts in the Beta Test Redux thread.
  6. Your bill should have been 20% higher since you knew she would complain. I have a sign I pull out for people like her.... "Lack of planning on your part does not create an emergency situation on mine."
  7. Transmitted. City return deposited in the night drop. Waiting on Acks.
  8. If he is due a refund, 3 years from April 15, 2013 to preserve his refund. No penalties for IRS. The MEF system will close down sometime in November. If he has dependent issues, not likely you will have those resolved in time to e-file. Paper file is the right way to go.
  9. Doing mine right now.
  10. You should review the updated Circular 230 then fire her. If you KNOW and do not report, you are in violation.
  11. Close the Political Forum.
  12. You are charging accordingly for all this last minute expertise???
  13. Agree with Taxed. Not medically necessary. (please don't faint everyone....)
  14. The county and school district on the Ohio form would be where she did live, since they moved to another state. If they moved during 2012, then the SD form would be part year non-resident. If you need specifics, send me a message. I am very experienced with this scenario.
  15. This is a prime example of why I prefer to download the information from the client's web page myself. Most people over the age of 40 have no clue how to do these modern things.
  16. Operating system and program design are more important in the scenario.
  17. It depends if it is an omission or mistake on my part or not. My bad = no charge. Their omission or an IRS "looney" situation, then I charge.
  18. I don't believe I am saying this, but I agree completely!! At least a retainer of double what you think it will be.
  19. Then I have to check all details for accuracy from conversion. Never is correct.
  20. Show me how Scottrade website will download the information in an Excel Spreadsheet. Tell me how and when you did that? It will download only to a file that can be accessed with Intuit tax software.
  21. The aspect of the government not paying interest has become a non-issue since the amount paid on short term savings and CD's is so very small. Avoiding penalties will save them more than any interest they could earn. It is an outdated statement.
  22. Scottrade only downloads in a format to be imported into TurboTax or an Intuit program. Tried that. Have your client give you login and password information to their investment company webpage and download it yourself. With everyone but Scottrade, I have had success at it that way.
  23. As I have posted several times, there will be no more "fixing" of 2012. Sounds like there are fixes and updates that you have not applied to your computer or program. If you are trying to use Windows XP, these problems continue to be compounded. At our firm, the unlimited license is 50% of the price of the program. No negotiating.
  24. Rush fee = Normal fee X2 + $50
