Do your clients split their refund into multiple deposits>
Jack from Ohio replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
If my bank charged me to transfer funds between accounts in the same bank, I change banks. Problem solved. All the other "reasons" for the ability to deposit to multiple accounts are simply ways to shift the responsibility of what happens to the money to someone else. I balance my checkbook. I learned to do that in 6th grade. -
If the worker is deemed an employee and granted unemployment, the amount of unemployment is based on wages. Wages are taxable to Fed, SS, Medicare and State. No wages paid, no liability to the TP. Wages paid to qualify for Unemployment = taxable wages on all levels. Strangely logical...

I wonder if the amount of unemployment the worker receives will cover the taxes the worker will now have to pay on the wages he earned. If it is decided that the worker was an employee, then the employee will pay SS, Medicare and well be issued a W-2. Support for my comment about scamming the system. The worker was not concerned about any of those things, just getting unemployment. Such is becoming the state of our country...

I think the worker is trying to scam the system. TP should have asked for an invoice. Worker is trying to freeload. Just my opinion. I see this kind of thing in my town and county all the time.

I am certain that Eric is a VERY busy man! Probably only took him 5 minutes to fix. Just a couple of lines of code to repair, but when you are a "go to guy" like him, time is a precious commodity. THANK YOU ERIC FOR ALL YOU DO!! This little glitch shoould remind us how much Eric does behind the scenes that we don't know about and how good he is at what he does!!

The pages are calling the session_start method after another file has already started sending content to the client. It will take Eric 2 minutes tops to fix. -

It is a website code problem. Eric the Awesome WebMaster will see it and get it fixed. Patience!!!! -
Only use the archive disk for installation on a different computer or a reinstallation to correct a problem. Doing updates keeps everythng current. Another note, it is still important to do updates as ATX may find more issues and change them as well as keeping current on MEF updates and changes.

"Here’s my proposal, which is based on the TV show Survivor: We put the entire Congress on an island. All the food on this island is locked inside a vault, which can be opened only by an ordinary American taxpayer named Bob. Every day, the congresspersons are given a section of the Tax Code, which they must rewrite so that Bob can understand it. If he can, he lets them eat that day; if he can’t, he doesn’t." --Dave Barry Wish I could take credit for this, but I copied it.

I agree with the principle, but... How is giving a test where they give you access to enough answers to pass going to "...put out of business the crappy prepareres out there..." I am seeing many very competent, experienced, ethical preparers leaving because of the requirements. Not getting how this system is helping....

I have the same issue! Wish I knew where the hair stylists went to tax school so I could be just as informed....

First clue is that your name is not in the e-mail. If any of them were real, they would at least know your name...

I will continue to be proud of having professional skills in the areas needed to be a professional tax accountant and bookkeeper. I will not claim that I am a professional that only needs basic skills to do my job. I hope all my Math teachers can see this.

Where are you located in relationship to the center of the storm right now?

"As goes Ohio, so goes the Presidency." The last 10 Presidential elections have supported this. It actually goes much further back, maybe to FDR. Since 1944, Ohioans have sided with the losing candidate only once – opting for Nixon over Kennedy in 1960. http://www.270towin.com/states/Ohio The "experts" have decided that there are only about 5 states that are "undecided" at this point. Ohio is one of them.

Simple direct answer as a tax professional - - YES If you cannot do the calculations on your own, how do you have any idea if the answers from the computer or excel are correct or even close to correct. I went through school when slide rules were the calculators. My senior year (1973-1974) you could buy a desktop calculator that plugged in the wall, generated heat, did add, subtract, multiply, divide and had a %key for the low price of $100. If you are not familiar with how complex formulas needed in some situations are processed, how can you know if your software is being accurate. Excel is only as accurate as the information and formulas input. Again, it is no wonder that children from other countries, living both here and abroad, are far more skilled in Math and are taking the high tech and engineering jobs by storm. I was at a local restaurant 2 weeks ago with a 20% discount coupon. At the register, with calculator in hand, a High School Senior, the hostess, nor the manager could calculate the bill. I told them the amount of the discount and the final bill. They took my word for it because, even with a calculator, they had no information to object. THIS is the current state of math education in our schools. BTW, I leaned to do percentage calculations in the 8th grade and knowing how and passing tests on it was mandatory. What has happened to the idea of being professionally equipped to do a professional job? RANT OVER!!

If I were a non-apathetic citizen, would I want an accountant doing my taxes that does not understand the basics of advanced math? Questions that make you go hmmmmmmmmmmmmm..... We all know that the tax laws are getting simpler every year.....

Learning the proper way to calculate an equation is part of learning math. Seems that many people slept through Junior High Math, Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, Triginometry and Calculus. Jainen, all calculations are by default base 10. Also part of the math classes. Why do people continue to question the proper solving of the equation, even with the input of a Math teacher? Just because you do not know the rules does not give you the right to ignore or change the rules. These things are a sign of why foreign students are kicking our students' ass when it comes to knowing these kind of things. Calculators & adding machines do not establish mathametical equations solving rules.

Agree with Lion. The direct answer to your question is no, he cannot do what he is asking.
