  1. Are you a math teacher or major? Ask an advanced math teacher.
  2. I know, beyond any reasonable doubt, the correct answer is 20. Would someone contact an algebra or advanced math teacher and let them verify for me.
  3. My math teachers would count a problem wrong if the work was not shown. On a separate issue of those trying to use calculators.... There will be different answers from a calculator compared to an adding machine. One is literal, the other is accounting. If that confuses you.... Hmmmmmmmm
  4. You will not know until you submit the e-file.
  5. Federal e-file will be available from now on for returns that meet MEF standards. This is true for 2011 & 2010. No state e-files for 2010 are being accepted at all. Several states are no longer accepting e-files for 2011. You will get a "Rejected by EFC" for the returns that are not being accepted by the states. ATX software will decide when you create the e-file in the return whether it is MEF acceptable. I have e-file 15 Fed and about 8 state returns for 2011 since Oct. 15. Also 3 Fed returns for 2010.
  6. Rules of calculation: 1. All calculations inside parantheses 2. All multiplication and division. 3. All add and subtract. 4 x 4 + 4 x 4 + 4 - 4 x 4 = (4 x 4) + (4 x 4) + 4 - (4 x 4) = 16 + 16 + 4 - 16= The correct answer is 20. Math, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus major in High School.
  7. "Never commit to memory anything that is easily looked up in a book." Albert Einstein.
  8. "My upline told me so it has to be true" Is the top of my favorites list.
  9. Used, abused, screwed and ignored. Our government agency known as the IRS at its finest!!
  10. I will reiterate my opinion about the whole PTIN registration and RTRP program. It is just a money grab. My RTRP status and certificate is a high priced paper to give me bragging rights only. I can now put those letters behind my name, I have NO additional rights or privileges with the IRS. Even though I am complying, it is just another way to milk money out of those people who are being honest and ethical taxpayers with absolutely nothing in return. The idea that the IRS will ever be able to police the CPE credits is another fantasy. Currently, E.A.'s only self-certify when renewing every three years. The number of E.A.'s is a fraction of the registered PTIN holders. You do the math.
  11. Who knows what this is: LOAD *.*,8,1
  12. So what happened to the CPE credits I received from the IRS Forum in Chicago?
  13. Are you certain they are IRS approved, and that your credits will be sent to the IRS? Lots of questionable companies out there... If they are not IRS approved or fail to submit them, then the cheap price is very expensive.
  14. Open Office is a wannabe substitute. Misses the mark on so many levels. Only Microsoft Office for me.
  15. So they want our tax money to pay their taxes? They must be liberals... I don't see the humor here....
  16. I am waiting for my ballot to be mailed to me....
  17. All income from her MLM activities is subject to SE. Period!! For simplicity, use C-EZ instead. Still subject to SE.
  18. Bumping this up... I found someone to share expenses. My lovely wife is going with me!! I would still like to know who else may be attending so I can say HI.
  19. I will be at the ATX seminar as well. Would love to meet and shake hands. My wife and I will be flying in on Friday before. Let me know how we can meet up and say HI.
  20. With MEF, e-filing will not stop. Anything filed will be time stamped accordingly, and deadlines will still apply.
  21. The "3 out of 5" rule is a one way rule. If an activity shows profit in 3 of 5 years, it qualifies as a business. However, if it does NOT show profit 3 of 5, then the other tests, facts and circumstances come into play to determine if the activity is a business or hobby. Not rocket science to see this one. Make profit 3 out of 5, the activity is a business.
  22. No amended forms can be e-filed!!

  24. I don't understand the logic of continuing a course of action that keeps losing money year after year. I thought the idea of a business is to produce income, not spend more resources.
  25. One out of a thousand does not a trend make!
