  4. When my son was about six, we were having a conversation about computers. I told him that when I was his age, I not only did not have a computer but nobody I knew had a computer - they were only in really large commercial or government offices. He asked me if we had electricity way back then....
  5. If nothing else, he discourages sloppy thinking.
  6. Mike, I don't think they are picking on the TRX users. So far, I have not noticed a problem with ATX but I haven't really tried to do anything on the new software. I did, however, get an email from ATX (the day after I installed) telling me to only use one of the installation codes they provided with the software and not both. They had given me a code for TTO and one for Payroll Compliance. They said the payroll code overrode the TTO code and would cause the tax program to not work. I did not buy from TRX but direct from ATX. I am waiting until I have a spare hour to really try this out and see what problems it will cause and what I have to do to fix it, but it sounds like it might the same or a similar problem to yours.

  8. Of course I charge. I have to completely re-do the return, and prepare copies to paper-file instead of e-filing. The only time I don't charge to file an amended return is if we are filing to correct my mistake. If I originally prepared the return, and don't have to re-enter all the information i would charge a nominal fee of around $50. If I did not do the return, it is just like I am filing their return for the first time in terms of the time that it takes me and I would charge accordingly.
  9. He has to be in my all-time top ten authors list, and one of the main reasons that I remain a science fiction junkie to this day. I thought the TANSTAAFL phrase came from the book The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, but now I am not sure. i also like the phrase TANJ from Larry Niven - There ain't no justice.

  19. We were recently asked for the same thing for one of our clients, and when we questioned the loan officer we were told it was a new requirement for loans. Basically, we weasel-worded the letter to say that withdrawing money from the business would not adversely affect the business in any way not already disclosed in the financial information provided to them. They already had enough information that they should have been able to tell as well as we could what this would do, but their new checklist was requiring a letter.
  20. I don't think what you need is in the program, but you could try looking under View, then Advanced Find Criteria, then the tab for Tax Warehouse to see if that form is one of the ones listed under that. I think that the only forms there are federal forms, but I am not sure. For future reference, you can set up a custom field under Return Info and fill that in when you do the franchise tax form so that you can sort returns by that field to see which ones have that done and which do not. Being in Virginia, this particular form is not an issue for me.
