    ATX 2014

Hey, Buddy, yeah I had to maximize the screen. You can sound like Mr. Obvious, I ain't skeered. I love you.

    ATX 2014

Posted on official forum and taxhack told me to maximize screen. He didn't have it either. I'm good now. Whew.

    ATX 2014

There are so many forms not ready for my own return. No Sch C, no Sch F. I don't even have p. 2 of Form 1040. I don't see the point in releasing the product without p. 2 of Form 1040. Please tell me nobody has p. 2 of Form 1040, and it's not just me.
  4. Or train her "input" employee to rollover returns as needed. Don't see why that would be difficult. If it is, she should not be trusting employee to enter data.
  5. But ATX really should put a clue down there in the error tips cause who in the &^%% would think to click that "Additional Info" tab? I mean really.
  6. And nobody got hurt.
  7. Never mind. I did a search on the official forum. There is a tab "Additional info" to the left on the disposition screen. Once I entered payments received this year, it flowed.
  8. I'm using the 2013 program. I enter disposition, installment sale of a residential rental, in fixed assets. Flows to 4797, but not to 6252. If I manually enter data on 6252, I now have two dispositions on 4797. Shouldn't this flow to 6252 without my help? Is there a box to check that I'm missing?
  9. Looks awesome, Elrod! With all the eating and cooking, I just want to share a recipe that has changed my life: Buy some ham or bologna (one pack) and some bread (one loaf) and buy a little jar of mustard.* Then you make yourself a bologna (or ham) sandwich. Put the bread down on the table, put the bologna (or ham) on it. Spread the mustard on the bologna (or ham).** Put another piece of bread on the bologna (ok I'll stop). Serve with milk. Then clean up. *Substitution: Mayonnaise **Variation: Spread the mustard (or mayonnaise) on the bread. Optional: For special occasions, use a plate.
  10. Also, some happy couples figure out that it often pays to NOT be married under our tax code (no offense to your clients, Bart, and any similarity to them is accidental): 1) Single + HOH standard deduction > MFJ standard deduction 2) Being divorced might cause one or both parents to be eligible for EIC Would I ever tell a client that? HECK NO. NEVER. A friend recently attended a seminar where the presenter actually said, "If you want to know anything about EIC, just ask your clients who receive EIC."
  11. No, I do not. She's a church "friend". She actually called then rather than wait on me to respond to the message. I tried to keep it short, but it's impossible with a question like that. I was pleasant, maybe she'll decide to hire me. Maybe not. We all get those; I just try to do the best I can with it. One call, I can live with that.
  12. Just had this question in a Facebook message. She's not my client. "I have a question. I am filing out a new W-4 form. what is the best way for me to get money back at the end of the year but not taxed so much during the year." So many smart @$$ responses, so little time.
  13. Try to hang in there. You work awfully hard for your money, and I think you would look back and regret not trying to keep what belongs to you. Just my gut feeling.
  14. Love the backsplash tile!
  15. I've never seen anything like it!
  16. I don't charge for questions, per se. When it gets to be an annoyance, I just raise the total fee. I have had two attorneys in my life. One would itemize those bills like crazy. The other just charged what he was gonna charge whenever he sent a bill. I liked the second one better, and paid him more. Go figure.
  17. No, that did not work when I tried it yesterday. However, at the moment things appear ok, but not because I took any action. Out of the blue does appear to be applicable.
  18. "Page Last Reviewed or Updated: 05-Sep-2014" And it's going great so far. /s
  19. Ok, now the General Chat screen indicates that the last post on the ACA thread is from Jack at 4:09 pm yesterday. When I click on the thread, the last post is from ILLMAS, 10:49 am. If this is the worst thing that happens to me today, we're good.
  20. This thread does not appear for me when I click "General Chat". It only appears on the right side over there on the ATX Community screen. Also, on General Chat, the latest post available to me was posted to the ACA thread by grmy2h at 8:44 am on 11/12/14.
  21. My understanding is, to avoid the discrimination penalties, they'd have to reimburse the expenses for every employee: http://evergreensmallbusiness.com/s-corporations-health-insurance-and-obamacare/ http://www.calt.iastate.edu/article/updated-aca%E2%80%99s-thorny-impact-more-2-s-corporation-shareholders So, if they are going to pay (as opposed to reimburse tax free) the health insurance of the shareholder, the amount would be in box 1 of shareholders W-2, but not boxes 3 and 5. So, health benefits paid to, or on behalf of, shareholders still not subject to SS and MC. Also, note that they spell "health" incorrectly. http://www.irs.gov/Businesses/Small-Businesses-&-Self-Employed/S-Corporation-Compensation-and-Medical-Insurance-Issues "Treating Medical Insurance Premiums as Wages Heath and accident insurance premiums paid on behalf of the greater than two percent S corporation shareholder-employee are deductible and reportable by the S corporation as wages for income tax withholding purposes on the shareholder-employee’s Form W-2. These benefits are not subject to Social Security or Medicare (FICA) or Unemployment (FUTA) taxes. The additional compensation is included in Box 1 (Wages) of the Form W-2, Wage and Tax Statement, issued to the shareholder-employee, but would not be included in Boxes 3 and 5 of Form W-2."
  22. I haven't decided between TheTax Book CPE and APlusCPE. Anybody have any feedback on either of those as it pertains to ACA? I used APlusCPE last year and really liked it. Buy the The TaxBook every year, but have not used their CPE yet.
  23. /s Sorry, I keep forgetting to do that.
  24. Don't worry. And rant all you like. I'll apply the rules in place on the day I prepare the return or get the question. That healthcare.gov was actually working the other day when I got a question. Read it straight from the horse's mouth and sent the client a snapshot just in case it changed the next day. And you're right, repeal is a strong word. But I sure hope for change.
  25. Yes. You are. I can't wait for the %^&*$% thing to be repealed. Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber bragging about deceiving the American people. I think we paid him about $400,000 to do it, too:
