    LAUGH OF THE DAY

Wow, you're much braver than I am! It looked really amazing (even if I'm too scared to try).
  3. Yes, I get tons of calls and e-mails. The demo "says" it's 2013 but it's still the 2012 version.
  4. The survey is still there. It's just further down now that no one has responded to it recently. It came up, as well as this thread, when I was searching for "CrossLink" info.
  5. Good luck with whatever choice you make. I'm still evaluating several choices.
  6. Agreed! But, I figured for < 1/4 her renewal price, it might be worth checking out. It beats having to convert all her returns and going through a learning curve on new software.
  7. @ Frazzled: I've seen 2 other resellers with CrossLink. Sigma and MainStreet. Both are well under $1000.
  8. I agree with MsTabbyKats that there isn't much (anything?) that can be done by text that can't be done by e-mail. With my old cell phone and plan, texts cost extra. I wasn't interested and asked my carrier to disable texting. Last year I bought a smartphone and texting was included in the plan. Since then, there have been a few clients and friends that have sent me texts. I'm not sure how many had tried to send texts to me previously that I never knew about.
  9. I originally tried to sign on to the exchange in early October & couldn't sign on. I gave up during the "extension crush". Tried again after the 15th only to find out that they had reset some of the passwords. I fould that out by calling in and talking to a human within a minute! Never finished the call because MY phone died. Started over last week with a new username and password and have not had any problems since then. I'm now reviewing the 76 choices available. On the exchange I do have to look at the policies separately for my husband & me since the website does not let me group us together. (It acts like it's doing it, but then doesn't -- not sure if that might be a TX issue?) But since I don't qualify for a subsidy, I'm also looking at the various off-exchange websites. The 2 I've used are: http://www.healthpocket.com/ http://www.ehealthinsurance.com/ HealthPocket seems to have better prices and has policies that are not on the exchange. 80 policies in total. It also shows me the premiums separately for my husband and me. eHealthInsurance has fewer choices (46), but will let me combine our policies. Taxed's HealthSherpa will let me combine & also has 80 choices, but it is more expensive than HealthPocket (for the few I checked). I found the exchange site to be the most useful in comparing policies and finding out the details (deductible, max out of pocket, co-pays, out-of-network coverage). The other websites just show the policy name and metal level. So it's taking a lot more digging to find the details of the plans on the other websites that are not on the exchange. Some policies are easy to find and some are more difficult. Even looking at the companies' websites can give mislieading information. (Some of the summaries on the BCBS show no deductible and no charge for many of the services - then tells you there is no max out of pocket.) I was amazed that so few of the choices cover out-of-network (other than emergency room). At this point I have an idea which policies I want to include. I'll work with my agent to narrow my list down to 1.
  10. I'm looking at Toshiba laptops on thier website. Several can be customized and include an option to have Win 7 Professional.
  11. That's a good point about the soap. The front loaders tend to make the soap "foam-up" more. I actually only use about a 1/4 - 1/3 of a measuring sccop per load.
  12. We've had a Fridgedaire front loader for about 5 years. It was on sale and eligible for City Water rebate. We do run continuous loads and just leave the door open when we're done for the day. Only need to leave open to have to moisture dry out to keep mildew from growing. We've never run a bleach load or water-only load. My husband built a wood box for under the washer so as not to bend over as much. Hope that helps.

    ATX 2013 Demo

I didn't know we could demo 2013 ATX. They have let me demo 2012 (and 2011 & 2010) this summer even though I'm using TaxWise through MainStreet. Is this a 2013 specific issue as to the release requirement? I used ATX for 2000 - 2007 & 2009 (TRX). So this year MainStreet had to get a release from ATX before I could use TaxWise. But MainStreet took care of that.
  14. I'm reviewing several programs. No decision, yet. I haven't run into many issues with ATX '12, but I only have a few returns in it. Also the 2013 specs mean I would have to upgrade my PC. Drake costs more and I would have to get used to the input, but should run on my PC. It has some features I like better. Others have potential but cost more - might be able to negotiate? I will be interested to learn what everyone else is finding. I have a small practice, so cost is a big factor for me. But I also do not want a repeat of last season.

I quick cursory read at IMDB only refers to 2015. I was trying to remember if he went to 2 different years (say, 2015 and 2013). It's been a while since I've seen the movies and just remembered that there was a lot of traveling back and forth. Yep, I guess it's time to watch them again. The original was my favorite and saw it many times. Only saw the 2nd & 3rd a couple of times each. Who would dare Photoshop a Back to the Future scene? How dare they!

Thanks for the reminder jklcpa. I thought that was still another 2 years away (since the original movie was in 1985). I guess I'll have to rewatch it to see how much they got right. I do remember the scene where they are watching a bunch of channels at the same time on the TV. I guess that's not too far off. No flying cars, however.

Agreed. I only anticipate the one with the MA K1. He keeps saying they plan to move the partnership to Texas. I'll believe it when I see it!

For one return - there was a sale of a PTP, that kicked out income to a bunch of states. Reject said if there was business income (referring to the "Ordinary Income") that there should be a Sch C or Sch F. I moved this to the state Rent / Royalty... line. For the 2nd return - there were 3 errors 1) Name / SSN mismatch. Primary on return changed her last name 3 years ago. Fed wants new name, MA wants old name. (I've been filing this return for several years - client's husband is part of MA partnership and files MA NR every year. Catherine helped me a lot with this return the first couple of years I had to deal with it -- thanks again!) I keep hoping that some day MA will update their list. 2) Penalty mismatch - I generally let Fed & state send bills for interest & penalty. I overwrote the penalty on Form 1, but not on M-2210. 3) Number of statements referenced does not match number of statements attached - Not too sure about this one since this was all handled in the software. I didn't (manually) indicate number of statements anywhere in their form. But there were required statements for the interest / dividends they had (none of which was from MA). I made some changes to that. I'm not sure if that's where the problem was, but was the only thing I saw related to statements. I still don't have acks from TaxWise.

I guess everything is OK. I called MA, waited on hold about 10-15 minutes. Then the CSR was getting and error message and suggested I call back. Then she rebooted the application. She had both returns. I tried to clarify that both were "accepted" and she said she didn't know if everything was correct on the return. Tried again to clarify and she said she had both "in-house." Still no acks through the software or through the CCH website.

I didn't hear back from Main Street today. I guess I'll have to go straight to an MA rep tomorrow. The Main Street guy didn't sound like it was a big deal so I really thought they'd get back to me today. (Really strange since I don't tend to be an optimist.) Ah well...

I talked to Main Street (the TaxWise reseller I used) this morning. The rep said the 2 efiles were sent to MA in the same batch and still awaiting ack. He said he would ask TaxWise to research & call me back.
