2013 return shows owing tax approx. $2500. 2014 would be the same but a $10,000 ES payment was made so about a $7500 refund would be due for 2014. My approach was not to send 2013 payment, wait for IRS to process 2014 and reduce the refund for 2013 tax owed. I was going to have 2014 carried forward to 2015 because 2015 results will be similar. Anyone see a problem with this approach?

I do the same.

Wow, hadn't heard that until now.

We haven't heard back from Mr Lenore.

I have one, over 65 with an adult disabled son.

Do you have their birthdate entered?

Thanks all, especially Bart. Ky is due 1/31. I just like to get them done by 1/31 and not have that 'to do' hanging around until 2/28. Sometimes there's a need for a change. It's not that often.

If a W2 correction has only a state amount change, do we still submit a W3c and W2c to SSA?

I'm not too interested in the old guys doing new music or singing their old stuff. I'd rather listed to the original recordings. And look for some new groups like Seether, Breaking Benjamin and Dishwalla.

I'm surprised so many have lasted this long. Most of them lived in the fast lane in their early years. To quote Neil Young, 'the damage done'.

Jack, irs.gov under minimum essential coverage lists Medicare Part A.

Some have mentioned using e signature services. How does it work? How often do you use it? What circumstances? Other then 8879s (for the other spouse who doesn't come in), I'm wondering how often I would use it. I currently have a ShareFile account and they called the other day offering this service. Supposedly is good for legal documents, etc.

As a side question, does having Medicare Part A but not Part B satisfy the minimum essential coverage requirement? Part A would be free and not show up on SSA-1099.

So far so good here.

Just to verify. S corp. Two shareholders/employees, husband and wife. No other employees. It is my understanding that they are treated as one employee and therefore exempt from ACA. Treatment of their health insurance premiums as in past. Box 1 on W2, not in Boxes 3 & 5. Above line deduction on personal 1040.

I use the comparison for myself on all clients. But I only include it with the client's copy of returns for select clients. The same for a few select worksheets.

Or in top horizontal menu, Forms, Planning/Analysis, Last Year Comparison.

I got the Drake demo one year and purchased it for the next two years, while keeping and using ATX. I must be crazy to have done that but I wanted to give Drake a fair chance. In the end I really didn't stick with it enough and was just too comfortable with ATX. So I can't give a fair evaluation of Drake. I'm just a one person office. For years, I thought any large office would want to use the higher end programs such as ProSeries or Lacerte. I know they're a lot more expensive but I assumed these firms would also have much greater volume and revenues to budget for that. They have to evaluate that themselves. I'll stick with ATX and hopefully ride out my final few years without any major disruption.

I've not filed a 706 and probably won't have any clients like that. The only circumstance I can think of filing a 706 myself would be the first of a couple to die and you just want to check the box for the carryover exemption. Even if they don't have much money, just in case the surviving spouse came into some money later.

Is it due to being on a network? or number of clients (Jack mentioned 400 clients)? If number of clients, why would it happen so early or are you rolling over all clients up front? Just wondering why some are having the problem and not others.

Back in 2012, I had the program on one drive and my files on another drive. Not a good idea. After that, I had all ATX on the one drive (C). That was my previous computer and my C drive was an SSD with limited space. That's why I initially had the files on the D drive. With my current computer, my SSD is much bigger and space is not a problem. I still have a 2nd HD (traditional type). I think ATX recommends having everything on the same drive. Like Abby, I have it encrypted too (Bit Locker). Would prefer PGP (now owned by Symantec) but PGP told me my new drives were not yet ready for PGP. That was a year and a half ago though.

Has anyone else had trouble updating to 15.2? Stand alone system? I was going to update Monday until I saw this thread. Put it off. I'm just working with the Payroll program for now.

Same here on updating OS on an existing computer. I did it once way back going from W95 to W98. I just think there are too many things going on unknown in the background. Not to mention the older hardware being used.
