Oh, Taxbilly, my sincere sympathy. That is my youngest son's birthday. Also, I have a dear friend and client who received a call last year "on Mother's Day" with the news that her son had passed away that morning. This will be a difficult Mothers Day for many.

To all of you, wonderful mothers...I don't pass things on much,however most of this is so true, and I have enjoyed/loved every minute of it (and I'm sure I'll enjoy those things I haven't yet had the chance to experience). What a blessing our children are...AND...WE ROCK!! This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up puke laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, 'It's okay honey, Mommy's here'. * * Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted. This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse. * * For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T. ** * * This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes. * * This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on their refrigerator doors. ** * * And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football , hockey or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, 'Did you see me, Mom?' they could say, 'Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world,' and mean it. * * This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens. * * This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand) mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words. * * This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat. * * For all the mothers who read 'Goodnight, Moon' twice a night for a year. Right away. ** * * This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them. ** * * For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green. * * For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the mothers of those who did the shooting. * * For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely. * * * * This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and now pray they come home safely from a war. * * What makes a good Mother anyway? * * Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips? The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all at the same time? * * Or is it in her heart? Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time? * * The jolt that t takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby? * * The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home? * * Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying? * * The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation... * * And mature mothers learning to let go. ** * * For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. * * Single mothers and married mothers. * * Mothers with money, mothers without. * * This is for you all. I never had to sync in prior years, but, yes, it did leave the complete tags intact.

I got eleven, but I am one of the "older" kids. I missed on Buddy Holly.

I did the sync and even the ones that I filed today came back accepted. I checked the E file center first. Good to go again, especially as I filed my own this morning.

I cannot find an age limit restriction that would rule it out. Is interesting. Here in WI, many of our "dislocated workers" are also pursuing further education. I am surprised there have not been more comments on your question.

The credit always follows the exemption. I don't see why not. However, do his student loans just cover his schooling or are they covering his living expenses?

I have the 2010 version of Norton on this particular laptop. If you haven't seen it, the new version is pretty impressive with a resource meter, etc. Very much on the order of AVG. Just happens to come free with my ISP so use this version here. Still have V 2005 on my work machine at home and no issues with either one.

TAXD OUT is on the front and back of my Jeep and how true it is this time of year. My clients love it. Your list is a keeper.

You can download a program to remove Nortons from your computer and it works. However, again I say, I have never had a problem with them and I am running the same archaic system as Jainen on a 2003 machine.; which is stable, although I backup the entire hard drive once a month with Ghost. I have much newer laptops, but I don't intend to change my "work" machine as long as it is still doing the job; and it is. Good luck with that new purchase and have a great rest of the year.

This is my final post on the subject. There is NO WAY that those of us who did not go with TRX last year are going to get any kind of a deal. In regard to Troy, after talking to him at length, there is nothing that he can do about it and is only there to bring the TRX people into the fold. I will not be a party to jeopardising his job by discussing any part of our conversation. I will proceed as I see fit to either bite the bullet or start searching for different software. He is an extremely nice young man who is simply doing his job.

And, now Troy isn't answering his phone. I left a detailed message so will see if he ever calls me back. Looks like we may have a major fiasco just like last year when ATX found out that TRX was advertising their program at a greatly discounted price. It came to a screeching halt.

Thanks, Margaret, I will certainly give it a try. Maybe I can also ask him why I never got the $100 referral fee for the client I referred in 2009; who definitely bought the program and stayed with it. I wrote to them once about that and never got a reply. I guess when you try to be honest, you assume that everyone else does too. Thanks again. I really appreciate you and all of the other good people here.

I did....as I posted above. I asked for the same discount that the TRX users from last year were getting and he flat out lied and told me that it was not true that anyone was getting more than the 10% discount. Like I said, I hate when someone lies to me.

I called them this morning for a quote and was given the 10%. When I asked why the TRX purchasers were being offered 40% off, he assured me that was NOT true. When I told him I had seen it on that tax board, he backtracked as again ASSURED me that was given to only one person. Now I am between a rock and a hard place. I hate when people lie to me. I did not renew...said I had to check it out further.

I am one of your 90%. Would not know where to go without your software as my payroll clients are limited. Thanks for a great program.

Same here, but have not checked to see what the bottom line is before the 10%.

I have Nortons on 2 computers and AVG on one. I have never had a problem with Nortons and the latest version which I get free with my ISP is pretty awesome. I like the interface much better than AVG. I have Norton's 2005 on my main computer and renew it yearly for a fee. That is because this is where all of my tax files are and it has protected me very well since 2004. This is my desktop and the other two are laptops from which I move files back and forth on jump drives. The bottom line is that I am happy with both but the new Nortons has the edge....for me.

Good For You! I have also been feeling embarrassed and ashamed as to the way this question was handled.

Does the 20th also hold true if the rejected return has to be paper filed. I had one that was rejected because the former spouse who was allowed to take the child as a dependent,; but did not qualify to take the child for EIC because my taxpayer was the custodial parent. We paper filed it today. I sent along copies of the rejection query in hopes that he would not be cited for late filing. Does anyone know approximately how long it takes the IRS to sort one of these out.? I did my due dilligence and am sure that my client is entitled to the EIC for this one of three children. Client can prove that child lived with him most of the year. He didn't need the dependency so gave the two he was entitled to claim to the x-wife and she shot him down.
