  1. We have the city package. I think that the only thing different is that you can efile RITA. We get so many efile rejects from RITA that are not able to be corrected (tech support says...yeah...we know it's an issue...you have to paper file) that if it is not a super straight forward RITA return, we just paper file. Saves the headaches. Also, if a move is involved are anything slightly squirrely, I just complete and paper file the generic form. Ohio laws mandates that they accept it. If they want more returns efiled, they need to fix the system between them and professional software. We can get some rejects to go by using Drake instead of ATX, but who has that sort of time!
  2. Yes, without this ability, we will have to enter an email address onto each OH return that we prepare. I am certainly not going to add a clients email address. I would like to customize the main form so that I can just enter my email address...one time... Rich
  3. ATX Community is back up! Hopefully efiling is as well!! Nice job ATX!!
  4. Maybe it is just me, but is the software taking extra long to open? Just the splash screen hangs for a long time. I have even rebooted (before I realized that no one else could efile either).
  5. No. I can't get on the ATX communities either.....I hope this is not a redo of a previous event..... Rich
  6. Did everyone go to renew all at once? I think the ATX web site crashed. I can not connect to receive acknowledgements or to go on the "Official" board. Is it ATX or is it me? (Never asked that before have we?) Rich
  7. I export from QuickBooks (actually print using an xps printer that comes with windows I believe), import into ATX, complete the 1096 info then create the efile on my desktop. From there you have to download the accuwage from SS and run it on your file from ATX. Once that is done, you can upload it to SS. I have run into 2 obstacles with this method. You have to keep changing the SS password. I am having trouble getting a file to pass the accuwage check. First time for this problem. I have to break down and call SS business services. Rich
  8. Fortunately I only have to go through these steps if I (or Microsoft) need to reboot my computer. Rich
  9. I have been having the server issue on start up also. I believe that I know what the problem is in my case. I am stand alone, no network. I have my tax data files on a separate, encrypted section of my hard drive. The files and tax program are unavailable when the computer starts up. In order to access the program files and data files, I have to log into my encryption software (truecrypt). The part of the tax program that we have to dilly dally with at start up sometimes is the "ATX 2015 Service". I think that program initiates at computer start up, but it can't find the program files or data, because the appropriate section of my hard drive is encrypted yet (unavailable until it run the truecrypt program). Here is what I have to do to over come the issue every time I reboot my pc. Once it is booted, I log into truecrypt program. Control-Alt-Del to start task manager. Click on services tab, click on services button lower right. Scroll down to "ATX 2015 Service". I click on that, then click on stop the server. I click on stop the server one more time, then I click on start the server. After that, ATX will start. I need to do this for 2014 as well. Rich Rhodes, EA
  10. The exercised stock options should show up on the W- in box 12 coded V. Rich
  11. Karen Hawkins has spoken to us at NAEA a number of times. I never got the impression that she considered all prepares crooks. She does tell us about the people who are convicted. I think that we all would agree that the people who have been convicted deserved to be, they can make us all look bad. She has stated that she realizes that she makes decisions that affect the way people make a living, and she does not appear to take that responsibility lightly. Now that Loving has prevailed, does OPR have any autority over unlicensed preparers? Rich
  12. Be careful and don't rely on the MFS worksheet this year. There are a number of items that don't calculate correctly, esp Ohio. If incomes are or can be made close, you almost have to do all 3 returns. Rich
  13. Sorry, it's back up. Mr. Impatience strikes again....
  14. I need to download the payroll program and it appears that the site is down. Just need to make sure that it isn't me. Rich, EA
  15. Just got off phone with Support. She had to send it to the developers and will get back to me in a day or two....
  16. Has anyone else noticed a new problem with the Asset Entry worksheet? It was working properly a few days ago, now it appears to be off kilter. When I enter a new asset, it gives the special allowance of 100%. Not a problem so far...Then I list the business % of 40.81%. Still deducts 100% of the asset cost, not the business %. I have started the program a couple of time to see if that would resolve it...it didn't. I am going to try to update the program and then reboot the machine. I will report back if this fixes it. Rich
  17. The error shows up for me when I simply check the return. Once I removed the x and the ( ) the error was gone.
  18. Try deleting the ( ) in the phone number fields. It worked for me.
  19. Removing the ( ) just worked for me! It was on a client that has been rolled over for years.
  20. My first theory has been squashed. Just had the error on a second return today. No vouchers on this one. There was an x in the box for a phone number with no number. Even after I removed the x, I still got the error.
  21. I may have figured it out. This helped me. I realized that there was a 1040 voucher included in the return. I removed that and all is good. Rich
  22. I am having the same issue with the 10 digit phone number error. I don't have a phone number entered. The client has a refund, not a balance due. My guess is that this is being caused because last year the client had a balance due. Last year he sent a paper check i.e. no phone number had to be added. I have had this happen to a couple of returns this season. Rich
  23. I have customized the master MFJ vs. MFS form. It now will take data from the Ohio tax return and help me decide if it is better to file MFS or MFJ. (In Ohio, many times you can save clients money by filing MFS.) I can not remember how to change the print range for the modified form. When I print the form, it only prints the original section of the form. I have done this for a couple of years, but I can not remember how to change the print range of the customized form. Does anyone out there know how to do this? If anyone is interested, once I get the form completed, I will be happy to share the form. Thank you! Rich Rhodes, EA
