I went from 4GB to 16GB this year and didn't notice a difference in ATX2013 in regards to speed, it still took a while to open clients, however I did see a slight improvement opening programs like quickbook. I am currently in the process of adding a SSD drive to my new computer, I will post the results once I am finished with it. MAS
  2. Jack, Eric, once a week I use Win 7 backup feature and backup the whole computer to an external HD, my new computer currently has Win 8 installed, but I am downgrading to Win 7 and adding the msata drive, can I simply restore it on the new computer once I install Win 7? And as a secondary backup, I use carbonite which creates an image on another external HD, just wondering which would be better to restore from? I will be retiring the old computer and I would hate reinstalling ATX and various versions of Quickbooks.
  3. Here is the one I am going to be ordering from Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147317 FYI my Dell XPS has a slot for a mini-stata drive.
  4. For those that have a solid state drive, is it possible to install ATX on SSD and the data files on a secondary drive? I am debating between getting a 250 or 500GB drive.

  7. How do you set up a leased vehicle for depreciation? For example if a car is leased for 36 months, do you still depreciate for 5 years? I have never encountered a leased situation before. Thanks MAS
  8. Windows 2000 probably has been the best operating system for a business environment I reckon so.
  9. I have a letter I can share, quick, simple and to the point. PM me if interest. MAS

  12. Don't waste your time writing the letter, it won't help, the damage is done. All you are going to get is a copy the original letter they rejected and a NO. I just went through this last month, I wrote up a letter with the reg code and the client received a letter letting him know they did not accept the first letter and they also gave him a copy of the first excuse letter. My client sent the letter in 2010, I prepared the letter similar to cred65 in Nov. 2013 and the response arrived last month.
  13. Jack is the client return under examination or in appeals? If not the letter you sent is a on top of someone's desk just collecting dust, try fixing through the tax practitioner hotline.
  14. Does anyone here, have a leasing vs buying worksheet for a car? Or any other source that can help me quickly put together a scenario for my client. Thanks MAS
  15. I think there is a glitch with their phone system today, I was able to get an agent earlier today via the tax practitioner hotline number, I had to call back for another client and three times already you hear a brief crackle sound and then it hangs up.
  16. Little Timmy asks his dad, why do hurricanes mostly have female names? The father responds because when they come they are savage and wet and when they leave they take the house, the car and everything else.
  17. Didn't some folks have a problem running ATX2013 in Win8?
  18. Dell XPS 8700 Win7 Pro = highly recommend i7 = good 16GB = more then enough RAM Will be a good computer for 4-5 years Get the 250GB msata SSD drive with a 1TB hardrive look for discounts or computers that are already built and save some money.
