Christian
Do expenses incurred for dependents at summer camp qualify for the child care credit ? I have not seen this before and rather doubt those expenses qualify.
Lynn EA USTCP in Louisiana
If it is a sleep away camp, no. If it a camp where they gofer the day and come ome every afternoon, and both parents work or one works and the other goes to school, then yes. Lion EA
Some camps break out the daytime part from the room & board; in that case I do take the daytime cost. Although, I think all my clients' children have aged out of child care credit, so I haven't done that in years.
Catherine
They qualify IF both parents work. Then it is considered "summer daycare" basically -- keeps the kiddies occupied safely while mom and dad are at work. And yes, split between overnight and day costs for overnight camp.
