TaxmannEA
Don't know about the present, but in the late 60's I filed and received a refund for $1. I would assume that they would.
Margaret CPA in OH
Isn't it interesting, though, how many state and local agencies are not remitting refunds under $1 or even $5? Yet my son received a correction on his return from the state. For 29 cents. Yes, for 29 cents. I have no idea how that could be because we file in whole dollar amounts. I have yet to see the letter. It did say not to pay if under $1. Wonder how much it cost to process and mail that sucker?

He was very amused; said it was the most enjoyment he'd gotten out of a dollar in a long time.
elfling
We came across an unopened Merrill Lynch letter for a clinet yesterday. It contained a check payable in the amount of $.01 (i.e. 1¢)! Gave us a good laugh.
michaelmars
tell them not to cash it then 6 months from now claim you never got it, the irs will issue and there will be a total cost of $20-$30 to get the check out. SERiously: maybe they can make a voluntary contribution for a $1 to ofset it.
