  1. First client of the day SAID he was gonna leave his crap in my mailbox last night, cause he "just found out" he had to leave for Scotland Monday morning. I still haven't seen him. I hate mornings. I hate working on Saturday. Other than that, everything is entirely great. I just got a text from somebody, no idea who: "The cops are after you for working so much. Look outside." Sure enough, they have somebody pulled over in my parking lot. I am smiling. I hope they have donuts.

  2. First client of the day, the wife brought me a beautiful pair of earrings that she made from pear shaped cultured pearls with swarovski crystals.

  4. He may have given up his business, what with EFINs and PTINs needed. Or been busted and sitting in jail!

  5. Please also move Easter, Passover, and Daylight Savings Time. Oh yeah, and my daughter's concert on 13 April with the Vernon Chorale! And the funeral of a colleague's mother next week.

  6. I love sports. March Madness is an almost irresistible magnet. Ditto for The Masters. Being the astute observer that I am, I've noticed that every year both of those events fall right in the most hectic part of tax season. I stream the events in a corner of my second monitor but that's not nearly as satisfying as the big screen TV. This morning I'm bleary eyed from having stayed up to watch one of the late games last night (the team I was rooting for lost--deep sigh). So anyway, here's my idea. What do you suppose the chances are that we could talk the NCAA and the Masters into rescheduling their events after April 15? Shouldn't be that hard to do, right?!?! I'd see if the IRS would change their date but that seems to require an act of Congress . . . and getting them to act on anything other than a congressional pay raise is nigh impossible. Yeah, I know. Dream on. Anyone else have any tax season requests?

  7. It's not even 9 AM...and I fired two "wanna be" clients. 1. Family lives in my building. Wife brought me the papers about 3-4 years ago. Not happy. Takes papers back. Fast forward-2013: Husband brings me papers. Needs to give me more info, but I tell him they will be owing "something". Get an e-mail this morning....this cannot be. They get refunds! My response....pay me in advance if you want me to continue or take your papers back PS...just got an e-mail....he wants them back! 2. Man lives in TX. This is a non-resident alien issue; W-7 issue; which has literally been sitting on my desk since Jan. Despite several reminders...sitting. And then a week ago he said "he was using someone local". Yesterday he decides he wants me because "local people have a lot of letters after their names but don't understand his issue" but wants me to lower my price. Told him...he should "go local". Oh...it's that time of year

  8. I guess she is a very nice woman who doesn't receive child support and YET pays half of the expense for the house where the husband lives WHILE she is upkeeping a home which is the main home for her child.

  9. Agreed. Kind of creepy. And what's even creepier -- if they wanted my business, how come they haven't called me before?? I have gotten free demos in the mail and the occasional email. But now a phone call, from someone telling me he is my account exec for Lacerte and/or ProSeries? A Phone call????? Stay out of my business Intuit. I will buy your product if and when I decide to buy your product and it will certainly not be right now.

  10. I'm working and have a client picking up on her way home from work. I'll be at church on Sunday but probably back at work (OIH) the rest of the day. My retired husband shopped and will cook a ham and scalloped potatoes. So I will take time out for a nice dinner with him. If I include a glass of wine, I'll probably end up napping. But still hope to get in at least one return Sunday. I might not answer my phone until Monday, except for call backs I'm expecting. Whoever set up tax season to include Passover and Easter and the Spring Forward time change just didn't think. Why not between Labor Day and Thanksgiving? And this year with the delay from Congress...! And, I got calls yesterday from two different clients who received corrected consolidated 1099s, one a second correction. Happy Easter! Happy Passover! Happy Spring! Happy Weekend! Enjoy!

  12. If his supplier is doing his tax return properly, the 1099 should NOT make a difference. If he is NOT doing it correctly, that is the supplier's problem.
