Because I took a tumble backwards down my Granddaughter's basement steps when we were getting things ready for her baby shower. I've been reading all the posts, but not commenting much. It turns out that I am fine. Saw my Orthopedic Dr today and the shoulder we thought was separated is just bruised. Aside from a very variegated right side and some minor aches and pains, I am OK. I am also aware of how blessed I am as things could have turned out so very much worse. Today I got to throw away the sling so I can type decently. Just in time for the first day of beta testing. I am very happy to be here and able to look forward to another tax season. I don't expect you all to comment or commiserate about this. Just letting you know where I have been and that Grandma's have to learn to be more careful.6 points

I was chosen to be a member of the Consumer Advisory Board. This is a group of ATX users from around the country that will meet in Kennesaw next week. The board is intended to bring input to the ATX developers and upper management about issues that affect us and for recommendations we would like to see in next year's software. Now here is where I need everyone to be civil. I am TOTALLY AWARE of all the shortcomings of the 2012 software. No need to send me a list of all the issues. I am totally immersed in the beta testing and have been VERY vocal and straight with them about these shortcomings and what they are doing to correct them. What I would like from everyone, is a list of viable and reasonable additions and changes you would like to see in the 2013 software. I will take each non-abusive recommendation seriously and present it to them. I am considering this an honor and opportunity to help all the ATX users. Send me PMs with your suggestions. I promise to give them the proper attention and pass them along. There will be internet access there, so I will be able to check in. If you send me a PM, I will give you my e-mail address for quicker communication. I am taking this opportunity seriously. I will ignore anyone who chooses to be rude and insulting.3 points

Orthopedic Doc said I should be 100% by Halloween. He should know because he operated on this injured shoulder in 2005. I really do appreciate all the concern and good wishes. Now, if clients would just quit interrupting my beta testing! Yes, it was a huge scare for my family. Not so much what happened, but what could have happened. I never have been one to sit around. Am used to doing things for myself. Went blackberry picking Sunday with my arm in the sling.2 points

Pay attention to all my posts on this subject. I am a beta tester for standalone & a domain network. I have had significant and numerous discussions with directors of the total software and the development division. Trust me when I say that I gave them the thorough going over and in depth grilling about the actual changes for 2013. My impression is that the new people in charge are seriously on board to put out a 2013 product that works. Stay tuned.2 points

Just to share ---- Had a return telephone call from Tayler Edwards at ATX - overall account manager responding to a letter I had sent (Sept. 1, 2013) to Jason Marx at CCH/ATX. My letter restated the ATX 2012 concerns, lack of decent response, some suggestions on how CCH/ATX might address issues - going forward. Maybe wishful thinking --- but I left the discussion feeling better about CCH/ATX 2013 product. Beta testing started today 090913 and will run for about three weeks (using 2012 forms, data-sets, etc.) with additional roll-over, real forms and some of the things that can't be done (they don't have standards, etc. yet) to be done later toward October as standards are released by the Feds, etc.)). Tayler left me with the impression, that CCH/ATX did have an idea about what ATX 2012 did to "some" of the CCH/ATX clients and that IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. It was mentioned that a "communication" initiative was in place to help clients know what was being worked on, etc. I shared that all I had seen was "selling messages" with nothing even remotely detailed about ATX 2012 problems, where it was going and ESPECIALLY what might be happening for CCH/ATX 2013. Tayler will look into that for my emails, as they should have been received along with the "selling" emails. When I receive a copy of the "informational emails" that I have been "missing", I'll review and share again. After the discussion and the way Tayler responded, etc. I do feel a bit "more trustful" of using ATX 2013 and trusting CCH/ATX again. We left it at --- I would telephone back early October after the beta testing was done and see where we stood (I do not have the funds to buy ATX, then have it fail (for my use) and await a refund -- to buy another program, so if I go with ATX, it needs to work (some glitches - always occur) BUT --- NOT another ATX 2012). I felt confidence in Tayler so if beta goes well, I'll probably go ATX 2013. I lean toward that and am not wearing "rose colored glasses" ALSO --- do not call me with any "property for sell" from the Everglades or related land types --- easytax001. note: I'm just a small one person - less than 100 returns (all 1040's as I stopped all but sch. C business when in rehab (medical)) using the 1040 program (NOT 1040 Office, just 1040)). So if they cared enough to speak to a little guy that doesn't generate a lot of fee's or research, etc., they might deserve another chance (once they fix the program).1 point

I am glad it wasn't more serious, and that you weren't carrying the baby! I guess you granddaughter is the only one doing that so far. Take care!1 point

Wow, that must have been a scare for everyone. I'm glad you are on the mend and continue on with no lasting effects.1 point

Glad to hear you were not seriously hurt. take care of yourself and hope you recover 100% soon. I broke my right ankle few years back and it still bothers me, especially when it is very cold or humid.1 point

Congratulations on being chosen, Jack. I know you will be thorough in your testing and won't hold back in voicing your opinion and concerns, and that is what is needed. It's a shame that so many of this forum's users are absent during this time of the year and probably won't see this. Is there a reason why you prefer the PMs and to not see suggestions posted here other than for expediency or to contain the emotions? Even though I'm not a current user, I'd kind of like to see suggested enhancements, and I might consider ATX again in future if the problems are worked out. It was an awesome program.1 point

We will have both, if we decide to try ATX for 2013. Can't take the chance. I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a new (3 1/2 months) design manager for 2013. After some in-depth technical discussion, my hopefulness is increased. Still waiting to see what happens when "the rubber meets the road" in the beta testing.1 point

Most of us have needed a fresh start at one point or another in life. I'd hate to think that every mistake I made would have dogged me for the rest of my career, especially since many of those mistakes were muti-faceted, complex, and often involved other people also dropping the ball along with me. I also know from personal experience that I have learned much more from my mistakes than from my successes - that's just the way things work in life. So I wish him well and hope he succeeds in his new endeavor.1 point
