  2. This morning I installed the program onto my laptop as I said that I would. It went as smooth as apple pie and cheese. I now have three codes on my Google Authentication App. The third one clearly says "Laptop" without being told. Now for the dumb question. When you click copy on the setup authentication app, where does that copy go? Or, are you supposed to physically copy that code to paper? I didn't and I don't know where or what they are. Thanks guys. Where is Dennis when you need him?

  3. I have a lot going on personally and professionally so I don't have the time (bandwidth) to devote to this client at this point in the tax season. That is all I am saying. Tom Longview, TX

  4. The history of HRB is a fascinating one, starting with one office and expanding to 12,000, some of them in Can, Aus and UK . Along the way they invested in other companies that became HRB subsidiaries, from which they have derived substantial profits. The Block brothers had a precursor business doing bookkeeping and offering free tax returns. Free, because prior to 1954, the IRS helped taxpayers with their returns. The Blocks never considered going into the tax return business, until a client of theirs suggested placing ads in the newspaper. They were astounded om the first day of the ad when their was swamped with people wanting to have their taxes prepared. I cut my teeth on HRB and never heard of most of this. 5. I file the 1099s through ATX, but I mail the paper copies to whomever the client is creating them for. There are different options for printing them. I still use the ATX perforated forms and the window envelopes that match. Of course, the client pays for this service.

  6. I will try to install it on my laptop, maybe tomorrow. I intended to anyway. I will use the same phone because I have to. Will let you know what happens. This is strange., because my assistant was able to pair her phone to her computer and then to mine so has two different authenticators on her phone. Both computers are stand alone. It shouldn't matter if you have a desktop or a laptop, should it. Once again, I say that the phone is paired to the computer and not the program.

  7. "unforeseen circumstances" means that he/she didn't expect the neighborhood was going to turn bad. I would use partial exclusion.

  8. Are you installing it as stand alone on both your main computer and your laptop? Just spitballing here. Your best bet might be a different authenticator, but having two separate standalone installs might be the problem, but I would think having two different computer names would work.

  9. I had good results working with ATX on connecting to "Authenticator.cc browser extension in Chrome". They have a prompt dedicated for that purpose, the wait time was not long and spent working with a headset on.

  10. Lordy, I remember back in the stone age Medlin Accounting. Back in the 286 cpu days !! When it was a boost in cpu power to add a math coprocessor. Yes in the old days there where two cpu sockets on motherboards. One for cpu and one for mcp (math coprocessor). I still build all our pc's. But Medlin was one of a few accounting products available. And remember the first HP LaserJet printers !! You had to buy a font cartridge for them and they weighed a ton. Let alone the price of them. Anyway, Ive grown a thick skin to some remarks on forums. Just the nature Dennis. But you know that. Stick around, open a beer and laugh at it.
