  1. Yes, you should paste it into a text document, and save it.

  2. I saw that and I pasted it in a word document but I don't know when to use it. I guess it makes sense in case I don't have my phone.

  3. Restart your computer. Pause your malware protections. End all unnecessary tasks, and stop them from auto-starting on boot. Smudge your entire office.

  4. I am not talking about the code on the phone. I am referring to the long code that they give you and tell you to copy and save. It is to be used in case you ever do not have access to your phone.

  5. Thanks Lee. I saw that in my research. Very helpful. Lets me know I am not able to advise the client on the F type reorganization option. I think I am on the right track with how the taxation goes if they liquidate the corp and then fire up a new LP. Just looking for some re-assurance that I am applying the related party rules correctly. Tom Longview, TX

  6. This happens from time to time. I agree with Abby. You have no choice other than to exit. Close down the program and restart your computer. Restart ATX.

  7. The employer mishandled the 1099/W 2 situation and your clients prior year return reporting on Schedule C is wrong. The prior year return should be amended and your client should ask his employer to correct the prior year's 1099 and the W 2. More than likely the employer will not do that, in which case the $10,000 should be reported as other SE income with no expense deduction.

  8. Thanks for all the input. I will delve further into why tp sold I think maybe she is grasping at straws.

  9. You can't copy and paste from your phone to your computer, because those are two separate devices. Just manually enter the code on your computer.

  10. Correction. My edit timed out. He is not my employee. He is my customer. Dan, thank you for your response. You are quite authoritative.

  11. Really not enough information here. Need more detail on why " tp didn't like the neighbor hood as it was turning into", and why that compelled them to sell the house. While it might not have to be as extreme as weekly drive by shootings, I imagine there would have to be some unforeseen and unresolvable factor that led to a hardship or an uncomfortable living environment. Rather than just a general distaste for the the way others were living in the neighborhood.

  12. To be honest, I question why you are asking this question, as I find it hard to believe any CPA would "endorse" this idea. If not your client why are you even asking? Basic research will tell you the payment by new employer is included as wages and not deductible to employee in any case.

  13. Probably puts it in the computer's clipboard for use in pasting somewhere else, as in copy and paste.

  14. I file the 1099s through ATX, but I mail the paper copies to whomever the client is creating them for. There are different options for printing them. I still use the ATX perforated forms and the window envelopes that match. Of course, the client pays for this service.
