  1. I live in Myrtle Beach SC and we are in those disaster areas. The filing deadline is extended until May 1, 2025. Yes, that means the IRA you are mentioning. Beware, I filed my LLC 1065 after Sept 15th that qualified for an extension and still got a late filing penalty. I called the IRS and got it taken care of but....... Funny thing was the notice contained an insert alerting me that I am in a declared disaster area and may qualify for relief. No Judy I don't think your lucky with searches and you are just plain good at it.

  2. How do you find this stuff? I skimmed the pages as well and I never saw anything. I suck at searching. You are the best, as always. Tom Longview, TX

  3. Just like car insurance that I hope to never use (but have used), I paid the tiny price for PP for the 23 tax year and renewed for 24 tax year. I have only 1 biz (except for trusts, that PP doesn't cover yet), so the $10 for each of my other returns is a small price to pay to sleep easier at night. I hate answering the letters, so If I can hand that off, especially when I'm busy, it's worth it. I don't have hundreds of clients, so it's a small price to pay. I've been raising my fees each year, because I was underpriced for my area. Now I can tell clients they have an added benefit in their new fee.

  4. If I ever really give up on QB (which I may, as I keep threatening to), I'll definitely go to Medlin's accounting program.

  5. I did it, and so far have not had to use it - but the pertinent letters won't be coming out for the next several months. Rather than do representation myself, I thought it was worth the experiment, as I try to retire slowly & gracefully. TLDR answer: too early to tell, but cheap insurance?

  6. Sometimes I'm lucky with searches, I guess.

  7. Maybe, but it may depend specifically on which disaster and what exactly was extended. The IRS publishes guidance for each specific disaster that has all the details. I skimmed through and found one for FL related to Hurricanes Milton and then Debbie that may be the one you are asking about. IF that is the issue, then the answer appears to be yes if your client had a valid extension until 10/15/24. It was the 12th bullet point down listed under 2024 that encompasses all of FL relief, and there were other IRs for each of the specific disasters below it. Anyway, the one linked does "stack" the relief, as you put it. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/irs-announces-tax-relief-for-victims-of-milton-various-deadlines-postponed-to-may-1-2025-in-all-of-florida In the 4th paragraph under "Affected Taxpayers" it refers back to Rev Proc 2018-58 for the additional deadlines for payments to be extended and IRA contribs is one of them.

  9. I use his payroll, and now the accounting and (hopefully) the A/R program as well. I don't know why you left, I haven't been around much in the last 2 months. But please come back!

  10. Here's the whole page of IRS newsroom announcements by year, if that isn't the one: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/tax-relief-in-disaster-situations. Also, here's a link to Rev Proc 2018-58 . link to it. Look in Sec 8, item 11 where it says this:

  11. Paste it into some sort of text document via Word or Notepad and save that document. Probably a good idea to save it on the computer and print it too. The code doesn't work anywhere now and would only be used as part of the recovery process if your phone is lost/stolen/broken.

  12. There were some people gung ho on this last year. Curious how many actually did it and if experience was good, bad or neutral?

  13. Not wanting to change the thread, but back in 1992 my first laser printer was a Lexmark and we had to fool it into thinking that it was an HP. Back on topic, Medlin was the first and only payroll program that I ever used. I still have the floppies to prove it. I no longer do payroll, but if I did, it would be Medlin all the way.

  14. Lordy, I remember back in the stone age Medlin Accounting. Back in the 286 cpu days !! When it was a boost in cpu power to add a math coprocessor. Yes in the old days there where two cpu sockets on motherboards. One for cpu and one for mcp (math coprocessor). I still build all our pc's. But Medlin was one of a few accounting products available. And remember the first HP LaserJet printers !! You had to buy a font cartridge for them and they weighed a ton. Let alone the price of them. Anyway, Ive grown a thick skin to some remarks on forums. Just the nature Dennis. But you know that. Stick around, open a beer and laugh at it.

  15. A lot of what you say is over my head when it comes to software issues, but I have learned from you anyway. Please don't go.
