  1. No templates in 2012 or 2013. We lobbied long and hard at the CAB for them. "We will research the possibility of incorporating it in future release or year."
  2. E-Services is no longer in existence.
  3. Been using tax software for 14 years, ATX for 13 of those. Only was asked once to send the EFIN letter, and that was for the initial setup for e-filing for tax year 2002. Never have been asked again. I am not sure how you would get one now since the IRS stopped sending them. In 2002, it had to be the latest one sent by the IRS, not an old one. Methinks that third hand information is probably not dependable.
  4. I addressed this issue in depth and in detail to Kerri Gibson at ATXsfs. Here is her response: (posted with her permission) Hi Jack – Development is working with tech support to troubleshoot customers today that are reporting the issue so we can pinpoint the cause of the issue. We have dedicated resources on this today. Thanks! Kerri Kerri Gibson, CPA CCH Small Firm Services, a Wolters Kluwer business 770-857-5058
  5. Ask an appliance repairman about dryer sheets. I just sayin... With good fabric softener in the washer, nothing else is needed.
  6. Windows 8 is great for any touchscreen device. I have used a computer that had Windows 8.1 on it (not mine) and my opinions and recommendations are still the same. Great for a touchscreen device ONLY.
  7. Pro is sufficient. The other things in Ultimate, are just fluff. Marketing stuff.
  8. Windows 8 is not recommended because, like ATX2012 it has never been finished. Too fragile and unpredictable. Even Microsoft backed off on the rollout and are allowing manufacturers to have WIN7 as the original OS and include a free upgrade to Windows 8. I am skipping Windows 8, just like I did Vista. For the record, Windows 7 is Vista that was finished and fixed.
  9. Never buy software from a reseller. I did one time. TRX sold ATX for tax year 2008 I believe. Almost as bad a train wreck as the 2012 software! NEVER AGAIN!
  10. Are you missing a sharp pain in your back? Why would you want her back? GET A GRIP!!
  11. Did you install from the CD or download the file?
  12. Yes and successfully. Dedicated domain server. In a network, there are no standalone installations. This defies the very definition of a network. Part of your question is invalid. Read my pinned posts again. DO NOT read more into the instructions than you see.
  13. You won't get away with that today. Systems and security track it and cross check
  14. This is the result of 2012 being so screwed up. There is no way to fix it, there is no way to know which returns need to be re-opened till you try to roll them over.
  15. XP is part of the problem. Are you installing from the CD? You need to get rid of your XP machine. Read my post that is pinned at the top of this discussion.
  16. WAIT FOR THE CD! Much less trouble installing!! Don't be in such a rush!!
  17. Wait for the CD. It is trying to update the forms and cannot find them. The message is about not being able to connect to the ATX server. WAIT FOR THE CD! Don't be in such a rush!!!
  18. Hello Fellow Discussion Board Members, I am reposting my experiences and recommendations concerning ATX 2013. Systems & Hardware: The following information is the results of my experience for 2012 and my testing of 2013. I will not go into detailed explanations. You may accept my information or ignore it. I will not spend time trying to convince the die hard "old system works and I won't replace it" group any further than the information I am posting. My system recommendations: Operating System - Windows 7 PRO only. No other. Make the move from Win XP, despite any stubbornness you have about not changing. Get over it. It is a dinosaur and will not be supported by Microsoft after spring 2014. Hardware is inexpensive. If your peripherals do not run on WIN 7, replace them. Printers and scanners are cheap. Get over your fondness of the old stuff. 64Bit is nice, but will not give a substantial boost in speed to ATX2013. 64Bit will improve many other programs. Processor speed of 2.6 or higher (actually as low as 2.1 should function if you are a standalone or peer to peer) will be adequate for ATX 2013. 4GB of RAM is sufficient. Any above that will not give increased performance of ATX 2013. If you are using a dedicated server - Server 2008 64Bit (there are several versions) or newer. If your system will support 64Bit, up to 16GB of RAM in the server. The recommended list from ATX will probably be useful for ATX2014. Plan your upgrades now so any learning curve for new operating systems can be done before season. Decisions about software for tax year 2013: After much research, testing and observation, here is what I have to share. The NDA that I signed with CCH prevents me from saying much of what I would like to, so here is the scoop The firm I work for and myself at my private practice are staying with ATX for 2013. This was decided after dozens of hours of trial and research. I have observed that many of the problems that existed for 2012 should not be issues in 2013. The development team has been working very hard to bring a workable product to the table for 2013. Anyone wishing more info, please send me a PM.
  19. This is the part that is frustrating for me. I HAVE installed 2013 (not just the beta test version) and I HAVE experience with all the questions being asked. Thank You Judy for seeing and understanding my dilemma...
  20. You should have paid attention to my posts!!! Read my recommendations. My posted information is solid and reliable. Check your messages.
  21. <<<<The reason why I do it is because you do NOT give other ATX users a straight answer to a straight question. Just read all the answers you give to other peoples questions.>>>> Taxed, When did YOU become knowledgeable enough about ATX to decide what others need or do not need. I find your position pompous and without basis. I have made information available to anyone who is willing to ask. Now stop pretending to be knowledgeable. It is becoming annoying.
  22. Phillip1117, Check your messages. I have information.
  23. I have enough honor to honor the Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed. YOU, on the other hand, have no information to give of any benefit. You are a newbie (a very prolific posting newbie) and have no idea of what you speak. I expect a warning soon....
  24. When did YOU become part of the ATX support team? I find you posting these things to have no reason other than to disseminate information to confuse and cause trouble. Since you are not using ATX, why do you do these things? Mods should ban you from this kind of posting about product that you are not using or going to use. This is my opinion based on all the posting you do.
  25. Follow the installation instructions. There is only one correct installation for each computer. Install on the "server" first. Use the CD and install on all other computers. Do not overthink the procedure. Forget all you knew about installing ATX before. NONE of the previous installation information you know has any value. DO NOT read things into the installation process.
