All the regulations, codes, formulas etc are still being written...

Rejection code is F1040-512 This is all I have. Nothing more on the MyATX page either. I did find this on the IRS page concerning common reject codes.... The dependent’s return will have to be amended. If you are the tax professional, contact the IRS e-help Desk at 1-866-255-0654 for assistance in determining which individual was claimed on another return. This tells me that the IRS does not have the specific information available for us. I guess they don't trust us???

Does anyone know the publication number that will allow me to decipher error codes? Client has 5 children. One of them has been claimed on another return. Before I call, I would like to be able to know which one it is. It is a His, Hers and Theirs situation with 2 off in college as well.

Many one-liners could be used in this thread....

As long as you give credit to the site you copied, all is well. What you can't do, is present it as your own information. One line, even a link, will make the copyright police run away.

Agree.

What will YOU do if armed criminals break into your house with intent of doing you or your family harm? Even if the police arrive in 2 minutes, you or your family could well be dead by then. Maybe you could put up a gun free zone sign and tell the bad guys that they cannot have the guns in your house. "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun."

I added DSL internet to my phone bill for $10/month. I have a backup high speed now. Cable is my main source.

I am waiting for someone in the government to tell us how we are going to take guns out of the hands of criminals. Criminals, by their very nature, ignore all laws and do what they chose. No law abiding citizen ever used a gun to commit a crime. Guns are not the problem. Heroin and Crack Cocaine have been illegal for years. Yet, anyone who wants them can still get them. What makes you think that making certain guns illegal will stop the criminal from getting them" Please review the definition of criminal before you talk about this subject any more.

ATX vs IRS mishandling of E-files the last week of filing season
Jack from Ohio replied to Johnofansley's topic in E-File
I agree with Bob. In our situation, "fixing" the software will reduce the future damage from a very bad year. 8 preparers that have only used ATX for 5+ years and almost 3,000 clients to convert and every detail will have to be scrutinized in 2013. These are very time consuming issues even if the new software is light speed. -
I RESEMBLE THAT REMARK!!!

Unless the moderator(s) think you have crossed some line, post as you wish. "You can please all of the people some of the time. You can please some of the people all the time. You can't please all the people all the time."

Everyone should hide any pressure cooking devices they own. The administration is certain to enact tight controls on ownership and purchase of pressure cookers now.

IRS and States Swamped by Last-Minute Tax Filings
Jack from Ohio replied to kcjenkins's topic in General Chat
And this surprises whom? Last 3 years, the same thing. For years the IRS pushed to have everyone e-file. They got their wish and now realize that they are in no way set up to handle it. -
Taxpayers generally will NOT accept any responsibility for being "last minute." As though they are the only taxpayer in the whole world.

"Also says XML error. The XML data has failed schema validation. cvc-enumeration-valid. Value "is not facet-valid with respect to enumeration and lists several lines of two-letter codes (country codes?)" Interpretation.... ATX did not spell the information the way the IRS wanted it to be.

"Lack of planning on your part does not create an emergency on my part." Everyone knows that April 15 came a month early this year.

All efiles submitted yesterday are still saying "Transmitted"
Jack from Ohio replied to FTS13's topic in General Chat
This happens every year. Procrastination is a rampant disease and the IRS and ATX cannot handle the flow. Things will thin out Wed-Thu and things will flow again. -
All my debits have been deducted up to 4-14. Still waiting on answers about the ones filed yesterday.
