  2. wired or weird?
  3. Yes on the strong storms tonight and tomorrow. By Saturday, cold again and the possibility of snow. The groundhog was lynched today!!
  4. Supposed to be some more snow showers here this weekend.
  5. The IRS continues to prioritize creation of the acknowledgements for Sunday's submissions. Although we anticipated completing that task by midnight on Monday, the process is taking longer than expected. We will continue to work them throughout the night and will provide a status by 8:00 am, Eastern on Tuesday, April 9th. As federal submissions are accepted, the linked state submissions will be Made Available for state retrieval. Thank you for your patience and support. I have acknowledgments for returns I submitted this morning, but still waiting on one from Sunday.
  6. From our natural gas company.... Long, cold winter to impact April bills Winter weather hung on longer than expected. In fact, March was 20% colder than normal and 145% colder than March 2012. As such, your April natural gas bill, which reflects March consumption, will likely be higher than normal - due to the fact that for most, the furnace was on all month long. Please keep this increased usage due to weather in mind as you open your bill this month. Plus, January and February were 11% and 1% warmer than normal, respectively. More importantly, if you have found yourself behind on payments and/or need assistance, call us today at 1-800-XXX-XXXX. Or go to our website to access our online chat service, which is typically live during normal business hours. You can request a payment arrangement, which allows you to pay your bill in smaller increments over an extended period of time - this service is free with no interest charges. Or, we have second chance options for those who have previously broken payment arrangements.
  7. Vaseline survey A man doing market research knocked on a door and was greeted by a young woman with three small children running around at her feet. He says, 'I'm doing some research for Vaseline. Have you ever used the product?' She says, 'Yes. My husband and I use it all the time.' 'And if you don't mind me asking, what do you use it for?' ... 'We use it for sex.' The researcher was a little taken back. 'Usually people lie to me and say that they use it on a child's bicycle chain or to help with a gate hinge. But, in fact, I know that most people do use it for sex. I admire you for your honesty. Since you've been frank so far, can you tell me exactly how you use it for sex?' The woman says, 'I don't mind telling you at all... My husband and I put it on the door knob and it keeps the kids out.' And you thought it was gonna be a dirty joke...! Shame on you !
  8. 7:25 PM Modernized e-File (MeF) was successfully brought back online at 7:00 pm, Eastern and is now operational for all service requests. Please resume sending federal and state submissions, sending state acknowledgements and retrieving federal and state acknowledgements. We thank you for your patience and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. 8:15 PM The length of time for the MeF System to create federal acknowledgments and make them available for retrieval is taking longer than expected. As receipts continue to increase throughout the night, the length of time may also increase. The IRS is closely monitoring the acknowledgment rates and is working to close the gap as a top priority. We will issue a Technical QuickAlert once the delays are resolved. Please monitor the MeF Status page for updates. Thank you for your patience and support. And on and on it goes.....
  9. If they converted it to rental, they owe the entire amount back. It was FREE to begin with, with only a few requirements. It was not "fair" that they received it in the first place. They owe the "windfall" back because they did not fulfill the simple requirements. Not a situation I have any sympathy for. Sounds like they bought an overpriced property and the FTHB credit was part of what convinced them to do it.
  10. Update your program to 12.13. Go to MyAtx, download the file, run the file after you close the tax program.
  11. I have a sign that I put up for certain clients.... "Failure to plan on your part, does not create an emergency situation on mine." Truck burning up that just "happened to have all the tax information in it" smells funny.
  12. How does my new pic look?
  13. There is no bad cheese. Some better than others!!
  14. Get 2848 and 8821 signed. Have the client in the room with you. Call Practitioner Priority Line and ask for a wage and income transcript. It will show any monies reported to his account.
  15. DITTO!
  16. I didn't tell it to synchronize. After I transmitted some e-files, it started with acks from Jan. 30.
  17. As far as I know, it is still the rule.
  18. That is why I always hold and release. No way state beats Fed. Also, if the Fed is rejected for a reason that may change state, saves time and paperwork.
  19. While I am waiting..... We have 5 year round full time employees and 4 seasonal. Total of 7 preparers during season. We will approach 3,000 returns.
  20. When you create the e-file for the return, the program will tell you if it is MEF compliant or not.
  21. We updated to 12.13. It has taken 14 hours for the e-files to synchronize. Of course we have 3,460 efiles in the program.
  22. My networked XP machine at the firm works faster and better with 12.13. My standalone WIN7 machine at home is greatly improved as well. Film at 11:00.
