Is webhosting subject to a 1099misc?
michaelmars replied to NECPA in NEBRASKA's topic in General Chat
if you pay someone for a service thats not a corporation, they get a 1099. besides even if you 1099 someone you aren't requred too, so what? -
some of that is there, from manager go to tax wearhouse and you can see which returns have c, d etc
-
since we are on the subject. i was about to order some frying pans from them, anyone have any comments about their quality?
-
sucks but yeah i agree. i think i was confused because IT-398, the same form but for partnerships calculated automatically just not for corporations

deductability of assisted living for senior
michaelmars replied to ljwalters's topic in General Chat
each home will tell you their percentage and it depends on the amount of assistance rendered, ie cooking and cleaning, vs giving meds and other help. -
does anyone know if this form calculated automatically or do we have to enter all data manually. I think it did in the past but it just didn't happen for a return i did in the 2010 program
-
this has happened to be too over the years, the program just cant see the printers. sometimes i just reoppen the program but usually i need to reboot. Support was no help but since it only happens 3-4 times a season i just deal with the reboot.

I had a similar experinece last year and just told the rep that "i have atx and proseries both holding for a rep and whichever answers first gets my business, do you even know if "my rep" is not out sick or quit etc" A supervisor immediately took my order
-
thanks, i'll look it over
-
WHAT Program do you use that does this?
-
i would think it was up to the partnership to prepare any 1099-int's. Why would you want to Create taxable income for your client? Are you even sure that the partnership recorded it as a loan and not as a contribution with the payments being distributions on its books?

awesum, it worked- thanks

i often have multiple years of atx open, i figured out how to change the icon on my desktop so the correct year gets open. I also like to keep 2011 and 2010 program pinned to my taskbar for fast opening. My question is, even though i have different icons on my desktop, the icon that shows on my taskbar is the same. Is there a way to make this one different too?

THERE are no time limits for them to review them but the good news is that they do pay interest. We still have some Madoff carrybacks pending but they are for very large amounts and with the current state of the US budget, they are in no rush to semd out money

Updated 10-13-11: Legacy and MeF 1040 efile deadlines-also refer to the IRS Quick Alert at the bottom of this email. The deadline for timely efiled 1040 returns (legacy or MeF) is Oct 17 at midnight (we recommend that you send your efiles to us at least 2 hours ahead of the deadline to give our EFC ample time to send to IRS) Any rejects should be fixed and resubmitted by Oct 22nd The IRS will continue to accept efiles after Oct 17th, but they may not be considered timely filed. The deadline to efile legacy 1040 returns is Oct 31st midnight, whether or not an extension was filed, and whether or not affected by the disaster designations. But those returns will not be considered timely filed unless they have the disaster designation on them. Thanks for the NY info, i didn't even think about what to put on the states.

the IRS says they need a disaster relieve designation but i can't find where to enter that on 1040s. on Entities its a tab on the ef form.

i know its not allowed but this started around 1990 way before my time. the parent wants to forgive the remaining balance. at this point i don't want to change what was done for 20 years. besides do you know if it was even not allowed in the 90's?
-
Thinking this through i think the parent can do it and the kids have to reduce their depreciable basis by the same amount.

a few years ago, taxpayer sold his kids a rental property in an installment. this year he says he wants to forgive the yearly principal due as a gift to kids. How does he report this, does he still pay tax on the 6251 as if it were received or does he adjust his sales price and treat it as a reduction?
