Welcome back Bob. Glad to hear from you again.

The Donations button fits in the one line just fine on my computers, Eric.

I love the new look, and the Large Print option is sure easy on the eyes. Thanks Eric. Also, for those of you who are just now signing on, and find that your 'already read' posts now show as unread, once you get down to the ones you recognize, the easy way to 'fix' things is to then exit back out to the community, and click on the dark box in front of the name of that forum, and it will mark them all as read. And then in future you are back to easily seeing the ones you have not read.

Probably the easiest way to do that is to use the export report option to send all the addresses to an excel spreadsheet, then you can edit it as you wish, then save as a cvs file. Then pull that file into your labelmaker or address book file, where you can automatically add the bar codes. That is how I did it, using my Dymo labelmaker software.

No, the declaration by FDA just qualifies farmers in the designated areas for low interest emergency loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. Has to be a FEMA declaration for a tax break. Although some states might allow a tax break on an FDA declaration? But preparers need to know about this in order to be able to answer questions from clients.

Federal agriculture authorities have declared disaster areas in parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee due to crop losses from a combination of severe spring and fall flooding and summer drought. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said the declaration will “provide help to hundreds of farmers who suffered significant production losses to a wide variety of crops.” The declaration qualifies many farmers in the designated areas for low interest emergency loans from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. The primary disaster areas are in 79 Mississippi counties and contiguous counties and parishes in the other states. Among Mississippi's five largest crops - soybeans, corn, cotton, rice and sweet potatoes - losses total more than $459.4 million, Mississippi State University's Agricultural Extension Service estimates show. The disaster declaration gives farmers up to eight months to apply for low-interest loans. They also can apply for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program, or SURE. If approved for SURE, farmers could receive grant payments to help make up for revenue losses not covered by crop insurance. In order to apply for SURE, farmers must have crop insurance. In case you have not bookmarked it yet, here's the link to the FEMA site. http://www.fema.gov/news/disasters.fema

First Time Homebuyer from mother's estate
kcjenkins replied to NECPA in NEBRASKA's topic in General Chat
I agree, When you are either the executor or a beneficiary of an estate, you are a related party in any transaction with the estate. -
Looks wonderful, and I am sure I'll get used to getting around it pretty soon.

Sounds like it would work, since both are legally parents of both children. Just another strange result of our confused and complex marital and dependency tax laws.

http://www.pagetutor.com/trillion/index.html /this is the best visual I've seen of what the difference between a million, a billion and a trillion actually is. A disscussion I've had with several recently. For those who prefer a more verbal approach, Thomas Sowell writes: "One way to get some idea of the magnitude of a trillion is to ask: How long ago was a trillion seconds? A trillion seconds ago, no one on this planet could read and write. Neither the Roman Empire nor the ancient Chinese dynasties had yet come into existence. None of the founders of the world's great religions today had yet been born. " Or another way of putting it: A million seconds is 13 days. A billion seconds is 31 years. A trillion seconds is 31,688 years. A million minutes ago was – 1 year, 329 days, 10 hours and 40 minutes ago. A billion minutes ago was just after the time of Christ. A million hours ago was in 1885. A billion hours ago man had not yet walked on earth. A million dollars ago was five (5) seconds ago at the U.S. Treasury. A billion dollars ago was late yesterday afternoon at the U.S. Treasury. The country has not existed for a trillion seconds. Western civilization has not been around a trillion seconds. One trillion seconds ago – 31,688 years – Neanderthals stalked the plains of Europe.

Ouch, I'm suffering from sarcasm overload! Good one, Jainen.

Rick, you should at least talk this over with an attorney who specializes in employment law, on the employer's side. Before you make the decision. It could save you a lot of money and trouble. Being in the right is not enough, if the former employee has gone to EEOC. Talk to an attorney fast. My oldest son not only practices in this area, he teaches it. I know what I'm talking about when I tell you this is NOT a do-it-yourself situation.

Don't do it, TR. If the bank makes the loan or does not make the loan, either way it's not your problem. Copies of the returns, combined with his knowledge of his customer, should give the banker all he needs. But as you said, you can not express an opinion on the business.
-
Jainen, what is hard is collecting it, when they have to rely on individuals to report and pay the tax with their tax returns. What the states want to do is figure out some legal way to make the sellers do the work for them, collecting and transmitting the taxes to them.

OK, I think it's time to stop this. Enjoy the laugh or not.

So sorry to hear you have it, Catherine. Hope you get better soon. I'll keep you in my prayers.

That means you got the upgrade, TTO instead of MAX. Good news for you.

So clearly, you should research why the dates are different. It could be that the 10th IS the correct date.
-
Number one, you should not install the archive disk, unless you need to replace your program for some reason. What you do with that disk is store it for when you need to install the program on your new computer. Of you have updated regularly, your program was up to date already. That said, you must have installed it differently or it would have done nothing. Don't panic and do anything to mess it up. Do a search and find out where your program is, and where your database files are, then use the browse button in the program to tell it where to find the files. They are still there, your program just does not know where to find them.

"Can somebody correct me if i am wrong" You are wrong. Taxes that are deductible are deductible in the year actually paid.

It's your call, but I would not change software for just $100. If you do 50 returns, just add $5 to every bill, and you've covered the cost, plus. And no time wasted on conversions, checking every return to be sure it all converted correctly, etc. Your time that you would put into any conversion is worth more than $100, for sure. KC

But when they are still married, and discussing with attorneys how to file, they need one person doing all the returns. And at that point, the preparer does multiple versions, turns them over to the attorneys, and the decision is made not by the preparer, but by the tps and the lawyers.
