The deduckshuns were all out in my duck puddle, but since it hasn't rained in a while, the puddle has been deducked.

I've sent in paper files with copies, hell even with a copy of the w2 portion of the wage & income transcript if that's all I've got. No problems ever.

I used to be much better at saving money. Now it seems I've always got those unexpected bills: vet bills, sidewalk repairs, still paying on the HVAC unit I put in one of my rentals over 2 years ago. But I have about half of what I need for retirement in actual retirement accounts and the rest in real estate equity, so I don't feel like I'm bad off, except when I'm scrounging money in December and January.

HRB does have depreciation schedules, but the client has to push to get them. I've had to do as much for clients I've gotten from HRB.

I should have quit when I said I was going to last night. Got the last bits of info for 3 years of SE returns and worked on them. Got 2013 & 2014 done & printed and then when 2015 error checked saying I had to do Sch C instead of C-EZ, I gave up. Today realized 2013 refund should be applied to 2014 balance due to decrease interest & penalties. At least I only have to reprint 1 page of each plus letters for that mistake. Still haven't moved all the 2015 biz expenses to the Sch C. Nap time. And then I get to watch what we call 'the singing' while I have supper. I wonder if I can just email a picture of the rash to my doctor? Don't have time for an appointment.
-
I've got a toothache, a weird rash on one finger that's spreading to the adjacent one, my lower back has been aching nonstop for about a week, and the knuckle on the ring finger of my left hand either is succumbing to arthritis or I injured it somehow, and don't remember how. I'm thinking of just pulling the plug tonight - I haven't napped today and just feel tired to my core. Nothing overt, just exhausted. I've been working til after 4am and not getting to sleep til after 5am. I stopped booking appointments at 1pm; now I just see clients from 2-7.

And in the coffee, and Monsters and Rock Stars......

Yes, I often nap after the last client leaves! But I've started getting kinda chatty with them too. I must be starved for social interaction. But I got to leave the house TWICE this week!

I got in a new client who moved to the area, but wanted a CPA because the guy she went to in LA that her friends went to just didn't seem 'right'. And some of her friends got audited and the guy wouldn't help them. Now this girl is just out of school, and 2015 is only the third tax retune she's ever filed. On the 2014 return: $3000 of cash charitable contributions (she only donated a little bit to goodwill) lots of employee expenses, including auto insurance, auto payments (she's a nurse, doesn't drive for work) some licensing and courses she did give him receipts for, clothing, shoes under other misc itemized: the pension payment shown on her w2, the code DD medical insurance from the w2, $1000 in hobby expenses (no hobby income) and some more stuff. $35000 in itemized deductions in total and she really only has state income tax and her vehicle license fee because the lil bit of legit employee expenses don't exceed the 2% floor. Oh, oh, and the preparer name was stamped on the return over the 'self prepared' note that turbo tax puts on the bottom of the return , and instead of being signed there's another stamp with an initial. And the PTIN is a stamp too. She's going to bring me 2013 too. She wants to bust the guy. I hope he gets jail time.

I have two rooms I use as offices. One to meet clients in, and one to work in. One desk is clean and the other is under the pile somewhere.
-
Me too! Simple when there's money in the PayPal account.
-
I should take a picture of my desk for comparison. At least I think there's a desk under all the crap.
-
And took a shower. Wow, it feels good to be clean.

Or you go to marketplace and get insurance for 3 months....
-
Damn, I can only see the top quarter of the screen.

Mine would be in the "outside office" in the front yard. Or I could make them clear a space in the dreaded dining room.

Ok, I thought this out really clearly while I was trying to nap this evening and have outlaid the issue a lot clearer. Here it is: Client is resident of and domiciled in CA. Spouse is military and is stationed in CA but is domiciled in OH. Income is as follows: Taxpayer CA salary $127,333 Spouse military OH salary $52,333 Spouse s-corp k-1 box 1 income $11,006. S-corp is in Indiana and she is at .2% shareholder Corp files a composite return for out of state shareholders and there is IN withholding of $347 Spouse dividend income from brokerage $1350 Spouse capital loss from stock sales ($2,620) From all I've read, OH military not stationed in OH - not taxed to OH. Pass-through from an out of state entity to a less than 20% shareholder, not taxed by OH CA salary on NR client, not taxable to OH. Dividends of $1350, less capital loss of $2,620 leaves no OH taxable income. So the IT 1040 looks fine on page 1. Fed AGI is $194,056, add back some non-ohio tax exempt dividends, subtract military salary and exemptions and we get OH AGI of $137,426. Odd thing; when I moved the capital loss to OH, OH AGI went up. On the OH schedule of credits, OH tax before credits is $4587, there's a joint filing credit of $229. But then the NR credit is calculating the apportionment of non-OH to OH, and I'm getting 54% OH. and an NR credit of $2,390 leaving OH tax of $1968. Something just doesn't seem right. None of the income should be taxed, but about half of it is being taxed. The issue is the military salary being counted in the ratio of OH to non-OH, skewing the calculation. Is this just some screwed up feature of OH or can I claim double taxed income based on the ration and get out of state credits in OH for the income being taxed that isn't taxable?
-
I bought a new three pack of bralets & new socks. And some shirts online. So I can hold off laundry for a few more days.
-
The issue seems to be with the nonresident credit calculation where if I put the military wages I to the calc, I get not enough credit, because the percentage is all fouled up. her military wages are being subtracted from AGI.
-
It just doesn't seem to be working right. How can they have 2000 in tax to OH, when none of her income (except maybe the dividends) is taxable to OH?
-
Client is military domiciled in OH, lives in CA. Spouse is CA resident. Client has a K1 from an Indiana based S-corp that files a composite return for nonresident shareholders. The k1 income (box 1 ordinary business income) doesn't seem to appear anywhere on the OH return. It's not on line 8 of the IT 1023, and doesn't flow as biz income to Part II. I think I have to enter it, and then indicate it is not OH in part IV? If I have to use the apportionment in Part III, I have no idea how to do so from the K1info. Right now I just put it all into sales, no OH portion. Also, will her dividend income be taxed to OH?

Those messages that you ignore...but you have a little fit inside

Almost all my clients email or text if it's short. This is how well trained: today I got a text form a client I had emailed last night "got time to chat?" Sometimes it's easier to clarify by phone, so I said yes. -
I have no idea where I am in relation to last year. My assistant is too busy with keying returns to actually do my books. But out I have been stuck at 72 returns in various stages of completion for weeks; it seems as soon as I get one done, another comes in. But YAHOO!!!! I'm at 66 right now....well until my assistant comes in tomorrow and sets up the 4 or 5 new clients returns that have come in over the weekend...

Since estate was the beneficiary of the IRA, the beneficiaries of the estate don't have the option of setting up their own bene IRAs. Bad planning.
