    Eric, please help

Still getting the "forbidden" screen after I log in. When I back out of the two screens I am already logged in?
  2. Tax refunds will be delayed State Controller John Chiang announced today that he will delay paying tax refunds for at least 30 days. With no money in the State's General Fund for the past 17 months, the state has been paying its bills by borrowing internally from special funds and from Wall Street. The Controller estimates those funds will soon be exhausted, and the State will be at least $346 million short in February. "Delaying these payments will get us through the next few months, but it will not solve the problem," according to Controller Chiang. If no corrective action is taken by the Governor and Legislature, the Controller may have to extend delays in payments, or issue IOUs.
  3. Open up the options menu on billing and look over all the boxes you have checked. I have only had one problem a couple of years ago and it was due to missing a box that should have been checked. My billing, (in the return) works out fine. I get the charge per form listed on the invoice after each form and the total above.
  4. Probably not. I received a corrected 1099 from Fidelity on April 10.
  5. Notice 2009-11 announces that Brokers May Furnish Certain Composite Annual Tax Reporting Statements by February 17, 2009, Without Penalty. The notice provides that the new February due date established under Section 403 of the Energy Improvement and Extension Act of 2008 to provide Form 1099-B information to customers also applies to other tax information customarily reported to customers with Form 1099-B statements on an annual composite tax reporting statement. This would typically include interest and dividends reported on Form 1099-INT and Form 1099-DIV. Notice 2009-11 will be published in Internal Revenue Bulletin 2009-5 on February 22, 2009

Notice 2009-09 provides guidance to financial institutions on the reporting rules applicable to required minimum distributions (“RMDs”) for 2009 in light of the enactment of the Worker, Retiree, and Employer Recovery Act of 2008, P.L. 110-458 (the Act). Section 201 of the Act waives any RMDs for 2009 from individual retirement arrangements (IRAs) and retirement plans that hold participant benefits in individual accounts. This notice modifies the reporting requirements applicable to RMDs from IRAs to reflect the waiver of the RMD rules for 2009. Notice 2009-09 will be in IRB 2009-5, dated February 2, 2009
  7. Try checking "Preparer Copy" on the print menu and see if this works. Mine wouldn't print until I check this and did a test print, then it worked.
  8. When you open the 2008 Organizer, I show an "organizer options" tab. It should be under Section 3 - misc - second check box.

  10. "Menudo is a wonderfully aromatic soup made of tripe, hominy and chili, and is stewed for hours with garlic and other spices. the broth is rich, red, papery, and glistens with fat. It stimulates the senses, arms the insides, and clears the head. Menudo is served in big open bowls brought to the table steaming and fiery. It is usually eaten in the wee hours after a night out on the town and widely proclaimed to be an antidote for hangovers. Mexicans brag about menudo's goodness, about how the hot broth with its medicinal condiments, particularly the chili, replenishes vitamins A and C, soothes the stomach, and stimulates the gastric juices to overcome any loss of appetite."
  11. Tripe, stomach lining. The best cure for a bad New Year's or any hangover. You feel so bad, you really don't care whats in it! BUT, it works.

According to The Tax Book's interpretation and others that I have read, this is a 2009 provision only. You are not required to take RMD's for 2009, but must take them for 2010. I can find no discussion for extending, but with the economy, a new president and congress, as we know, anything is possible.
  13. This is a little off the post, but I think ethics come into play, not with the original post, but Chowdahead reply. Maybe,I am a little naive, but I won't sign my name to a return that will set off any flags at the IRS. I am totally content to remain off their radar. I am at the opposite end of the spectrum from Chowdahead. I probably take "due diligence" a lot farther than my clients wish, but they also know where I stand. Some try and I just look at them and for the most part they back off. When they don't and I KNOW the ramifications of their action, I make the suggestion that they move on to someone that will defend their stand.
  14. Thank you KC, now I know why I am a native Californian. Give me menudo any day, but don't give me its history!
  15. "How do you go to "Forms Windows? I can not get it." Go to forms on the toolbar, click, then go down the drop down menu to customizing master forms. Click. Type in "General Consent" in the Find box and the form should come up. Then click on "view form," and it should open.
  16. "I'm about as computer challenged as they come." Me, too. I had to add the "IP" address for my router to the "trusted zone" and that enabled my network. It beats the h**l out of me where I found this, but probably "googled"it or found out about at Zone Alarm's website. So, I would GUESS you would need to do the same with each computer. I found the "IP" address from a free program that tells you everything that is in your computer, memory, type of chip, software etc. Much more than I ever needed, but it had the "IP' address of my computers. It is called Belarc, but I don't know the website.
  17. ATX support is built into the price we pay. If they can't solve my problem, with the software, then I need to move on to something else. I have never had a major problem with ATX, other than password and the "blue screen" lockout. I have a very small practice geared to investors and don't deal with the complex problems the majority of ATX users deal with. No 940"s, w-2's or 1099's, but some partnerships. If I have problems with my computer that I can't solve, I call our local "Nerds on call" and they fix the problem, usually the same day. I demo'd Drake last year and had a problem and their tech support, which answered my phone call immediately, tapped into my computer and fixed the problem. BUT, I never knew what was wrong and did not like the idea of anyone "taking over" my computer.
  18. "The ATX program has a form you can use for this, by the way." Showing my ignorance of the program I have been using for eight years, where is the form located? Thanks
  19. I only roll over last year's when the client shows up for their appointment. I look over the previous year to prepare, but I have learned from hindsight when I used PRS, don't push the button until I see the "whites" of their eyes. I have the feeling that this will happen again this year. More do it yourself'ers.
  20. Go customizing master forms, search client letter, open the form, then click on options. It will open a menu. At the bottom, #5, you have the option to change "the preferred pronoun."
  21. >>Now I've got more roses to prune.<< Don't tell my wife, she always prunes her's on New Years Day. Which means uninterrupted football. (Actually I only watch the bowl games and the Super Bowl, I am out fishing until the season ends or it gets too cold. Not as cold as elsewhere but cold enough.) Happy New Year to all and an uneventful tax season - ha!!
