Now, I have heard of people buying two ply toilet paper and making two rolls out it. Asking for extra cream and sugar and taking home.

This happened at the firm I worked for, co-worker was writing notes for a client on piece of scrap paper, gave the paper to the client, when client gets home he calls to let her know that piece of paper was someone tax return, after that ALL scrap paper had to be shredded.

Please add this one to the list, apparently this happened in Chicago and none of the major news feeds (ABC, CBS, NBC or Fox) had covered this story which lead me to believe it might be an urban legend. I agree to keep as storage for old programs but a day to day machine especially if you are running a business I say hells no.

You need to toss that XP machine out the window if it's max out at 1GB of ram, that machine you are working on is like from the late 90's or very early 2000.

This happened to my associates client son, first of all they are wealthy, while the son was attending out state college he would always invite his friends for drinks and pay the tab, then one of his friend invites him for drinks for a change and the next day he was approached that he invited for a drink only so that he had to repay the guy back for the additional drinks, guess who no longer invited drinking.

I am not talking about being frugal, but the real deal being cheap. Having a coffee mug that is blacker than coffee, taking pastries to an office party to feed 3 to 4 people when there is 20 co-workers, bringing home the soda can from lunch and the foil paper from your peanut butter and jelly sandwich. If you take a look at the receipt I am attaching, most restaurant use a POS system to take order, prevents from waiters giving freebies, once the waiter puts in the order the kitchen fulfills the order. If you notice my check was for $19.01 and on the customer copy you'll see the amount from the check + tip. You will also notice I received a 20% hard hat discount, I also get the police, neighbor and employee discount. I think this is important to add, if I were to look at the debit card online for todays purchase for example, I would see $19.01 as pending, 3 to 4 days from now I will see the total charge of $26.01, don't ask me why it happens, I am guessing the tip isn't processed until they do the weekly close out. SS card is enough proof, most would agree we are not child services. The IRS has to make it clear what documents proves the child lived with the parents. Please let's join hands and repeat, if the parent provides one of the documents to fulfill the tax preparer due diligence requirement then we should fear no evil.

Not exactly, the restaurant submits a total charge of the the bill + tip to the credit card company, however the restaurant books should reflect the bill and the tip separately. I bet if the restaurant checks it's POS system, bingo the girl is caught red handed.

Those days are over, no more carbon copy receipts, MOST businesses use a thermal printer in restaurants and you mostly get two copies of your reciept, customer copy and merchant copy. The customer copy makes no difference if you sign it or not, since you keep it. The only thing I hate of those thermal printer receipts is that they get ruined if they are exposed to light for a period of time.

I am not an attorney but from watching the People's Court and Judge Judy, the customer probably has a defamation case against the waitress.

Here is a story of a gay waitresses who allegedly received a hateful comment from a customer and even worst was denied a tip because she was gay. Most people I ask remember that day.

I guess it's shocking for both the client and myself that they just received the notice yesterday after all these years. I did not prepare 2004 and 2007, I did prepare 2008 and after looking at my notes, the prior preparer provided me with 2008 information after 10/01/09 so I know it was late. I am going to take a wild guess and say the 2004 and 2007 were also filed late. I had called the IRS before on behalf of this tax payer and they had said no penalty abatement because he is always late (IRS records) for another partnership before. According to the client they never received a notice before, anyway I am going to call the IRS on their behalf and see what happens.

Maybe you might know someone that found out they are the father a couple of years later, well if you compare it to my clients situation it's almost the same thing. Well today my client received an IRS notice for tax year 2004, 2007 & 2008 for late filing a 1065, that's 8, 5 and 4 years later, I am so surprised that I don't know if I should call the IRS or write a letter.
