This is a new thread because of some interest from a few posters.

What Tax Research Products are you looking at for next season?

I am looking at Taxbooks Weblibrary Plus. Price seems reasonable with the Drake discount.

Someone mentioned Parker publishing for $267.

I will probably continue with TTB Deluxe in paper as it's subsidized by my NY/CT-ATP group and sometimes I just need something in paper to shove under a client's nose fast !! And, it comes with Lasser's Pro, too. But, for my workhorse, I will probably renew IntelliConnect. I like how it works both within and without ProSystem fx. I get faster with it each year, and it adds features each year. But, I am looking at new products this year....

The checkpoint rep keeps on calling me but it is a bit too rich for my blood! Besides I rarely have to lookup actual code sections or case law.

Have you tried TaxAlmanac? It appears to be a bit dated, but I have not used it.

Years back I used to go to a site called Fedworld. I got to check that out again?

I am just curious. For those of us who are NOT EAs or CPAs, how often do you find yourself referencing or researching tax cases, revenue rulings, the actual code etc.

I find myself referencing JK Lasser's pro more than the code or anything else like that!

For those using Parker Tax Publishing - what are you using for the State returns you are preparing. I know the TaxBook's WebLibrary gives the user access to an all-states edition which includes answers to the state's unique income tax rules. Thanks for your feedback

I think I am going to try Taxbooks Weblibrary Plus next season. I think it will take care of 95% of the tax questions that I typically look up during the season.

I use Quickfinder 1040 and Small Business. I purchase the All States about every third year. I also use the CCH 1040 Express Answers and the USMasters Tax Guide. For WI, I use the very comprehensive Wisconsin Tax Guide. And, always, Pub 17 is on the top of the pile except for this year when we didn't get it until tax season was nearly over.

Plus, there is the ATX Community Board which is the best source of research that I have yet to find. If all else fails, just ask; and someone is sure to tell you. Thanks to all!

I am using pub 17 less and less every year. This year I did not get it until mid March and I did not even miss it!

Also the help files are getting much better each year.

When I first started pub 17 was like the bible of tax prep work!
