  1. My usual Saturday night posting. Just wondering how many of us are ready to surrender. Like maybe finding a new line of work, Or say to your clients, "business mileage 120,000, charitable contributions, cash 50, non cash 8,000, fine".. Just venting again. Guessing most of us are tired, can't see much any more and wonder how we're going to get it all done.

  2. This seems to be happening more and more. With young people jumping the gun and efiling their own returns. Don't forget when paper filing, attach W2s and 1099s with withholding. I tend to forget to do this since we've been efiling tha last few years.

  3. FIle the parents on paper and amend the daughter when you can. Or, tell mom to amend on TT for her error!

  4. If it is the correct situation that the parents claim their daughter, then they paper file their original return. And, the daughter paper files her amended return without her own exemption. Then only one return is claiming the daughter.

  5. I gave up worry about it, I work as long as I can, do as much as I can, If they do not like it, guess they will find someone else, I am real tired of this last min crap and they sure are not the easy ones, and the ones I owe, so I will come in april 14th, or the the one I have done in January owes $600 called them today to remind them it is still here, and my bill is not that high. If they call next week say they will come by Monday the 17th, by then its to late, I will have extended it, they can pick up the payment voucher from the table outside the door and good luck finding a post office after 5

  6. Not sure why so many of you don't charge for extensions - it takes time to generate the efile, to transmit the efile, to process the acknowledgements, etc. If it is due to the clients (missing information, coming late, disorganized, etc.), I charge them - I deserve to be compensated for my time. If it is on my request, I will still charge the extension fee and then apply an equal discount, so the net is no charge to them as it was a convenience to me.

  7. Late yesterday I found a simple return; done, printed, ready for client pickup first thing Saturday morning -- looked at it and found an item I just plain-old forgot to include. Remember thinking "Must go back and get that in there" -- and never did. So I'm re-printing it now. Sigh. My response last night? Only one sensible thing to do; catch the last hour of the local contra dance. It was fun but I sure was tired out from all the long hours and am glad I was only there for an hour! Wednesday I had my whole schedule scrambled utterly and completely on me THREE times before 11AM. By the end of the day I was an absolute wreck. Had to duck out on a quick errand to pick something up and on the way back stopped at a local church that was having quiet prayer time all week. Spent 15 minutes in the quiet and dark, on my knees, remembering all I have to be grateful for. Did me a -world- of good.
