  1. I saw today that mine ended up in a Word Document. Oh my! Just happened to be saving a PDF for a client and saw it there.

  2. I totally agree. I have never purchased an extended warranty on anything and my clients aren't going to accept the hike in fees for that reason.

  3. Yes, Rev. Proc. 2013-13 Section 4 .03 Year-by-year determination. A taxpayer may elect from taxable year to taxable year whether to use the safe harbor method or to calculate and substantiate actual expenses for purposes of § 280A. A taxpayer elects the safe harbor method by using the method to compute the deduction for the qualified business use of a home on his or her timely filed, original federal income tax return for the taxable year. An election for any taxable year, once made, is irrevocable. A change from using the safe harbor method in one year to actual expenses in a succeeding taxable year, or vice-versa, is not a change in method of accounting and does not require the consent of the Commissioner. An election for any taxable year, once made, is irrevocable (This is meaning if your client made the election in 2023 to use the standard method, the election cannot be changed for the 2023 year.

  4. Shedding tears of sympathy for you is all I can do. I am not experiencing that. Tom Longview, TX

  5. Paste it into some sort of text document via Word or Notepad and save that document. Probably a good idea to save it on the computer and print it too. The code doesn't work anywhere now and would only be used as part of the recovery process if your phone is lost/stolen/broken.

  8. We did, indeed, sent that BBQ picnic and received a huge thanks and photo. Those folks were the epitome of customer service and tech support. "The good 'ol days..."

  12. Watch the following ATX support video starting at 4:25 minute mark for how to reset the pairing. You will need your activation code to do this. You will have to go through pairing the device again and will show that recovery code at that time. https://support.cch.com/oss/sfs/video/U7mpfMUm17s

  13. Yeah, most trust cannot be S corp shareholders, past my bedtime. But how long will the trust hold the stock? Before death or after death of GP and GM? Maybe another way to meet their objective?

  14. I am familiar, but not experienced with a process called an inversion. I believe it works somewhat as follows and is considered an F type reorg: Basically a new corp Y is formed by shareholders of existing corp X. Shareholders transfer their shares to Y in exchange for their shares in X. X then makes an election to be a qualified sub chapter S subsidiary, and therefore X becomes disregarded for tax purposes. Y forms Z, a wholly-owned LLC. which is initially disregarded for tax purposes. Then X is merged into Z, with Z as the survivor of the merger. The key here is that both X and Z are disregarded when the conversion takes place. I would not attempt this without experienced legal guidance. Why can't they meet their objective by transferring existing stock to the trust and M?

  15. I wouldn't do it, but is it any different than paying for an extended maintenance contract on a car or a dishwasher?

  16. LOL! Would you have confidence in a restaurant that charges you extra to cover the cost of pumping your stomach in the case you get food poisoning?

  17. It looks like they charge you $10 for every return you prepare, including any you may prepare at no charge. That's $1,000 for every 100 returns. How many notices per 100 returns do you receive? One? Possibly two? If it's more than 2 I'd say people need to look into their procedures. Is it worth $500- $1000 to you to have someone else write a correspondence, or to ascertain if the notice is correct?

  18. I'm interested, also. A rep was a vendor at a tax seminar I attended in December. It sounded interesting, so I took a brochure. I've scheduled a call with her for Thursday. I'm a sole proprietor and seeing more letters go to my clients, often just plain wrong, but requiring responses. It's just me, so finding time to handle issues is becoming a problem for me. That's why I'm going to explore Protection Plus. What do you think about them?

  19. Thanks for the quick response. None of the solutions proposed here works I have tried everything possible including reinstalling windows. It all started after a month vacation. Everything was fine till then. On my return and first login, the issue started. It's a new computer - 10 mths old (Dell XPS 8960 and 64GB RAM) I paid DELL 3rd party application support team to look at the software compatibility issue, but found none and refer back to software make i.e ATX I paid a seasoned Microsoft MCSE working for HP, who reinstalled windows and still not working. I called ATX support 2 times, they remoted and refer me back to reinstall windows Funny enough the ATX 2024 worked, but none of the previous years does. The Payroll too is not loading (all years) I check AI to debug the errors, it directs me to contact the software support. I have requested escalation to ATX support 2nd level for the past 5 days, and they've not contacted me till now> Has anybody gone through this unfortunate incidence to help me out. Thanks
