  1. Thank you, was able to listen to all the prompts and advise the TP how to get through. TP was able to get through and received a call back within 30 minutes. The system even assigned someone from the first time he entered his SS number a few weeks ago. System works as expected but you have to listen to the prompts or get caught in a loop. Thanks

  2. This didn't even make it out of committee in the House and why I've always had a policy of not discussing any legislation until it passes.

  3. You might need to make an entry on the sub-schedule for the line in question (either negative or positive), to force it to reconcile. I haven't used ATX since 2012, but have seen situations in ATX (and now Drake) where I had to fix something using that approach. I think it's ok as long as a supporting schedule is generated and the wording explains the entry. Disclosure and all that stuff...

  4. Hubby uses Dashlane and loves it. I've never gotten into it. Still very old school with a book on my bookshelf, a generic-looking file on my desktop computer, and a few cryptic reminders on a post-it note on my desk for software/app passwords that have to change every 30/60/90 days.

  5. My understanding is that it would be based on where the client is residing at the time the return was prepared.

  6. Not a surprise. But based on your earlier email they are not going to have out of state EA preparers anyways because they don't recognize our licensure. I don't have any OR clients, and I guess I never will. I will send anyone who asks to you Lee. Tom Longview, TX

  7. So glad to see this thread! I've been an EA since 2006. I received letter 5507 yesterday dated 4/14/25 saying I was set to inactive because they didn't receive my Form 8554. I filed and paid 1/28/25 and have all my confirmations. Currently on hold and considering emailing if I keep getting hung up on...

  8. Same goes for other types of heavy equipment. I had a client who sold a dump truck that was over 30 years old for something over $30k. I actually called him to verify. The truck had been overhauled over the years and had a relatively new bed. But even if the rebuilds had been added to basis instead of bonused or expensed, basis is usually low on these older pieces and depreciation recapture yields high cap gains.

  9. So, it took 2hrs and 53 minutes, but I actually got a live body! She couldn't tell me why the letter went out but did confirm I'm active until 3/31/2028. A valuable lesson learned (thanks Lee that I truly didn't know I was supposed to renew by January 31. I probably should have failed the exam way back when It's irrelevant now. I can't say when I'm getting out, but it will definitely be before 2028 so this will be my last renewal debacle. As always, I sincerely appreciate everyone's input.

  10. Patti, Maybe you did get renewed since card is dated after the letter. I would still keep calling until you get confirmation. I guess a lot of letters went out and they have high call volume, but I had no luck from March to May trying to get a human on the line. Just make it your mission. I went ahead and joined here. Lots of good posts about multiple topics on this board.
