  1. I did see where the election to take to take the simplified method appears on the HO worksheet, but what needs to be done to get the home office deduction (either method) to carry over to the 2106 line 4? -Robin
  2. Yes, that is correct. If the business is based in Phila, she files a BIRT, as well as a NP return. She will take a credit on the NP return for 60% BIRT tax. The change form is filed to cancel the account, since she is no longer in business. The Philadelphia Department of Revenue call center can be a nightmare to deal with.
  3. Appreciate it Jack. Here's hoping they've got it worked out. (User for 10 years) [email protected]
  4. Update- For some reason, I figured out if I changed my community "name" ( not password, however that needs to be changed too often, IMO), I was able to access the boards. Wonder why tech support didn't suggest that when I called them a few weeks ago. Robin
  5. Every once in a while I like to check out the other community via "My ATX" to see any developments. For some time now (weeks), after logging into MY ATX, and selecting "community board", "'Go to ATX community board", it just circles back to the "MY ATX home page". Called tech support & they logged into my computer to check it out & "duplicate" the problem ( that was 1 wk & 1/2 ago) and have not heard back from them. Is anyone else having this problem? Robin
  6. Thank you Maribeth. I guess I need to find the time to watch it, since I don't feel like I'm able to jump in & run w/ the 2012 program, as I was in prior years. Ugh, but the program does seem to be getting better with time.......except for the print function....... -Robin
  7. I'm sorry, but how do you go about "attaching" the template. I apologize, but I am so weary of trying to figure out what used to be so simple!!! -Robin
  8. Form appeared automatically for me. Due to -0- tax liability, additional credit of $1000 for 1 child popped up via form 8812. Win 7 64 stand alone 12.5 update
  9. I know someone posted somewhere within this forum (or the other ATX forum), on how to customize the cover sheet to state "Federal/ State Returns", but for the life of me I cannot locate the thread. It had been easy in past years with the protect/unprotect feature. Please if anyone knows how this can be done, please post again. So tired of struggling with this program this year. Thank you in advance. -Robin
  10. Still can't create an e-file, when I removed all local wage references from W-2, per Kimmie's suggestion on the "blog". I saved return, closed completely out of client, opened up client again & created e-file. Exact same error message comes up. Is there something else, I should be doing? -Robin
  11. I am testing a 1040, W-2, Sch A , B, 2106, 2441 and when trying to create the e-file using program version 12.4.116.3, I get the message "System errors encountered, update program- Call techinical support". I am trying to avoid calling support. I believe I have the lasted update, as it updates automatically when opening program. Anyone else getting this same message?? -Robin
  12. I actually decided to bypass the Accuwage error & e-file the W-2's anyway. I did get a confirmation of receipt, but will probably not be able to verify that they were accepted for a few weeks (at least that is how it worked in prior years...........) -Robin
  13. After running AccuWage, I get an error message that says I must enter an EIN # as the submitter. I don't have an EIN #, but I have entered my PTIN #. I've been efiling W2's & W3's for years using ATX and never had this problem. What gives this year??? Anyone else have this problem? Thinking about trying it anyway, but since they are not processing them until the end of the month ( according to the BSO site), I won't know if they have gone through for quite awhile. -Robin
  14. Does anyone use a digital signature image on their returns (941)? If so, could you instruct me on how to do this please? I would like to be able to sign digitally before I email the forms to client. Thank you. -Robin
  15. I am preparing a 2009 return which is resulting in a $25,000 NOL. I believe its too late to file an election to forego a carryback, and carry forward. But what I am wondering is how many years can I go back (does statute of limitations come in to play) or is the NOL completely lost? Robin
  16. Joan, Thank you so much. I never would have found that. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent on trying all different ways to input, before I posted this. I was able to get the numbers where I wanted hours ago, but have been unable to create the efile. Hopefully it will work now.
  17. I am trying to create an e-file for a return comprised of foreign earned income not reported on a W-2. E-filing this client has worked in years past where I have not used the W-2 screen which asks for an employer EIN (there is none). I checked knowledgebase where the suggestion is to go into W-2 screen "detail" and only enter city, province, postal code & country under the for e-filing section only. Checked the box to send the wages to 2555. Still cannot create do to ATX asking for all the employer details including EIN. Has anyone successfully created an e-file this year for this type of return?
  18. I pay $420/yr for $100,000/$300,000 w/ $1,000 deductible (Philadelphia Insurance Companies). The interesting thing was it went up $120 from my first yr with them (no claims). Not sure if I got a "teaser" rate the first year. I left EZ Insurance Solutions 2 yrs ago after receiving a renewal for $540 for less coverage vs. Philadelphia's amount of $300. Robin
  19. Does anyone know if a W3C/W2C can be efiled to SSA, correcting an error on a previously submitted W3/W2? I attempted to create a new e-file (after duplicating the client) and got the error message "Critical Federal Corrected e-file creation error. Please send an export of this return to customer service." The correction only applies to the SSA copy, as I caught the error (forgot to include SIMPLE contribution) before issuing W-2's to employees/employer. Robin
  20. I just received the 2009 version (not the archive, this was release date 5/21/10). Not sure why??Received the 2009 archive last week. Robin
  21. Has anyone received this yet? Robin
  22. I am attempting to archive my 2009 data files. During tax season I have the automatic backup set to a maximum of 3 versions per client,(while working on returns). I would now like to only backup the latest which was the filed copy to my permanent backup. It program is set up to b/u to my hard drive, which I would then copy to a flash drive. It also does not appear to be backing up at all when I close the program any longer. I have checked the settings and it is set to automatic. Not sure what is going on, but anxious to get a permanent archive disk. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Robin
  23. Last year, I have successfully e-filed a federal return for a client residing in Hong Kong. I used "." in the state field and left the zip code field blank. They had a payment due w/ the return which was processed successfully as well. Robin
  24. Thank you for your feedback KC & Tom. I was hoping to avoid a step in just having the 2 beneficiaries take it as a credit on their individual returns, instead of having to wait/ then disburse the refund. Looks like it could have worked with estimated payments but not with withholding???? Robin
  25. I understand how to handle the distribution on the 1041 which will be designated as the final. The 1099R had FWT which I would like to pass through to the 2 beneficiaries via their K-1 (along with the taxable portion of the distribution), resulting in -0- tax on the 1041. The software seems to indicate that the estate should receive the refund. Can th beneficiaries use their share as a payment on their individual 1040's. If, so where does it go on the K-1. Box 13? Robin
