  1. FYI. While not an income tax item but PA imposes an inheritance tax on children of ~4.5% on ALL assets including the child's portion of any joint accounts held with the deceased. I believe the tax is due within 9 months of the DOD. Possibly this was handled by an attorney if there was a probated will.
  2. i have my state set as default in the settings but it doesnt add it to a rolled over return. I think its because I converted from Taxwise in 2012 and they only convert fed info.
  3. Just after graduating High School in 1979 I enrolled in Auto Tech school and graduated with a certificate in combustion engine restoration. Spent a month working at an auto dealership where all I was allowed to do was change oil and do undercoating. I enrolled in college the very next month. I wouldn't know where to start on an engine in today's cars.
  4. Arent we all already contributing to the presidential election fund?
  5. No server issues, Im on stand alone. I agree with the ed. credit input and Home Office sheet but I can live with them. I hate having to add my default state on every rolled over return. Maybe I missed something but I always have to add it manually. I left ATX in 2010 (after about 15 years ) for TaxWorks and I was very happy with it vs. ATX. I would have stayed with them given the choice. After getting full tax software packages for the last three years for $400 ATX is a bit more expensive and I don't see any additional value.
  6. Well, this made me feel a lot better and quite a few good laughs too.
  7. Nothing takes the wind out of my sails more than when I make a stupid mistake. For example a client moved to a new city during the year and I transposed two digits on their zip-code. Client caught it before the returns were filed so it wasn't a big deal but it still leaves me with that embarrassed, incompetent feeling. I'm surprised ATX didn't catch that the zip didn't match the city/state.
  8. I had a new client call today wanting to know if I could file his 1120S before the deadline. At least it didn't create any additional stress for me as I reeeeally hate the first 15 days of April.
  9. My cutoff is usually 8pm but this is a "special" client, and not in a good way. I really need to reign in some clients. They think that because you work out if your home hours are flexible. This special client called at the beginning of tax season .... at almost 2am. Apparently, I didnt scare her away. Maybe the bill will this year.
  10. Well that was my situation this weekend. Very nonproductive weekend. And as usual today they all decide to bring in missing information and a whole slew of clients brought in their tax info because they wanted to make it in before the 3/31 deadline I told them was the cutoff for extensions. SHEESH! Also, Im waiting for my last client of the day who was supposed to be here at 9pm but called at 9:05 and said she was running 10 minutes late ... Its almost 9:45!
  11. I wouldnt say I procrastinate on the cringe worthy returns as much as I give preference to easy returns to get them out of the way and out the door asap. I hate to hold up easy ones because of the more involved ones.
  12. Can anyone point me to the NOL carry forward election. On the "Elections" form the only thing I have found is the election to carryback losses under 172(b )(1)(H).
  13. Went fine here on a standalone.
  14. But there is no various option on that form. I had to override fields.
  15. Thanks. I considered that but was concerned it would flag the return.
  16. I have a K-1 with foreign transactions in three countries but it fails to break out the amounts for each country for Form 1116. How do I go about reporting this? Any help is appreciated.
  17. Jack, Thanks for the heads up! Likes? I just noticed that button.

    CUT OFF

I usually say the end of March and this year appears to be similar.
