  1. The idea is to force the program not to back up. Has anyone run out of space on a jump drive and see what happens? I guess I will not be rolling over more than one test return so I don't overload my HD.
  2. That's exactly what I was waiting for. CDs are made in November or before. I will install tomorrow and start testing on Saturday with a new client to whom I will not give any print out until the following Saturday.
  3. Am I the only one who is delaying installation?
  4. Corporations should amend 2010 before 04-15-2014 in hopes that the Supreme court will ruled that no FICA should be paid. Should employees do the same?
  5. I guess your answer was pinned today.
  6. OK. Then I will back up to a 2 gig jump drive and see what happens when it fills up. I rather do that rather than killing my virtual memory space. I wonder what will happen to some computers when their drive C: fills up completely.
  7. I stand corrected.
  8. In reality he is not using an adapter, he is using a splitter.
  9. I agree with Eric. The problem is that (at least in my case), the program will open with anything. It is like an account creation event. So I have used about 4 different users name and passwords and so far so good, I believe you will be able to create 5 accounts and then you will have to use one of them if you want to open it. So I use Manny, manny and many others.

I read somewhere that showing only the last four digits on some 1099 forms was going to be mandatory.
  11. will "NOT BACKING UP" become a work around?
  12. The fact that he is using an "adapter" gives us the answer that we need. Do you use an adapter with your two monitors?
  13. Taxtrio, hold your caballos. Jack is right on the dinero.
  14. I used to say "pull out that floppy disk from the drive". Do you happen to have that old smart phone attached to the computer? Pull out any CDs too. This is the situation, sometimes computers try to boot up from another drive if you have a device attached to it.
  15. Sometimes, it pays off not having sex with your wife more than once a month.
  16. I know, I just made the title somewhat interesting and tax related. The article is interesting and I was laughing.
  17. Much, much less careful, I would say.
  18. Taxpayer Scores $862,000 from IRS after Tripping over a Phone Cord New York (January 21, 2014) By Michael Cohn A taxpayer undergoing an audit at an Internal Revenue Service office on Long Island successfully sued the IRS for $862,000 after he was injured by tripping over a phone cord. William Berroyer claimed in his lawsuit that he could no longer play golf or have sex with his wife more than once a month after he fell during a 2008 audit at an IRS office in Hauppauge, N.Y., according to the New York Post. He had visited the offices to work out a payment agreement for a $60,000 tax bill when he tripped on the phone cord and fell against a cabinet. After leaving the office, he telephoned the IRS auditor from the parking lot to inform him that he had lost the sense of feeling in his leg and was suffering from shoulder pain. He then spent 17 days in hospitals and rehabilitation centers recovering from his injury. Attorneys for the IRS claimed he was exaggerating his injury, but the judge awarded him $862,000 for pain and suffering. He won't have to pay taxes on the damages either. However he was denied the full $10 million amount he was seeking. Berroyer did not immediately respond to a request for comment. http://www.accountingtoday.com/news/Taxpayer-Scores-IRS-Tripping-Phone-Cord-69345-1.html?ET=webcpa:e9871:2682979a:&st=email&utm_source=editorial&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=tpt_012214&taxpro
  19. "Yes if you use a VPN to connect. (My answer is based on regular network rules, not ATX). I have seen your questions and I believe you need to call ATX for most of your questions." Above is my previous post. I still believe you need to call customer service. You need to do two things: 1.- Continue purchasing the software as you are doing and contact ATX tech support when you have a question or 2.- Hire one of the professionals on this forum to prepare your return. Since you seem to know about your tax situation, I bet you, you get a very good professional at reasonable price (maybe for less than what you are paying for the software). I don't deal with 1041 unless they are my friends and I know their situation very well. So, my skills will not fit your needs but trust me this site has the best professionals on the field. I am sorry if you don't feel we have not help you but as you can see from our postings, we are tax preparers or professionals (up to you) and we are thankful to have this forum to get help.
  20. Thank you. Last year I didn't have any issues and I expect this year to have even less (is that possible?)
  21. I am surprised that ATX will know if a computer is connecting using the VPN or the LAN cable. There is no way for ATX to know that computer with IP address 182.82.100.3 connected using a LAN cable or if computer using IP address 182.82.100.100 connected using the VPN. Not to mention that both computer authenticate to the same DC and are part of the same domain. I agree that VPN is not supported and that it violates the agreement.
  22. I have not install ATX 2013 yet. Any issues that can be avoided (such as "don't leave the CD in the computer"). Thanks in advance.
  23. My cut off date is April 15 at 6PM.
  24. "Also, is it possible for a Network in include workstations outside the servers LAN? Out on the Internet, like at home?" Thanks -- Vincent Yes if you use a VPN to connect. (My answer is based on regular network rules, not ATX). I have seen your questions and I believe you need to call ATX for most of your questions.
  25. If it is being sold, you will have to deal with it next year or the following year, whenever it is sold.
