That's what I was planning to do. Thank you for your reponses. I was doing her return but she was always late and she talks too much. So last year, I told her I was not going to have time and i don't do extensions. So my assistant told her to go somewhere else and she did. This year I had a chance to raise my price by 50% and she wants to come back. At least she brought her papers in March. She always came in after April 5th.

Client "owns" two houses. One house is where she lives and rents 2 rooms and the other one she has a daycare where she works. She openen an LLC and it is a disregarded entity for the daycare. Prior preparer had a 25K loss in the rental and on the day care he didn't depreciate the second house, (I believe) because it doesn't belong to the LLC. So, can the LLC (since it is a disregarded entity) depreciate the house where it operates? If not, can the LLC rent that house from the owner so that the owner can depraciate the house? If LLC cannot depreciate the house, it should be able to rent it, correct?

Do you kneed one Sch E for each property since each seems to be a business unit with its own LLC?

MAS, I guess that with that physical structure, you don't need to be a sharp shooter. Defenitely he is not.

I grew up in a farm in my country and I have never visited a farm in the US. I am just curious how different it is.

I looked everywhere and I didn't find it.

I have a client that is using the stand mile and each time I click on the "bunny", I only get the vehicle page and no matter what I do, I don't find "fix asset" anywhere.

Are you sure you are talking about host files? Host files are only used when you (for some reason) need to communicate directly to a computer (host).

He hasn't replied to your offer. I think he is looking for a full time job with possible overtime.

I was looking for an excuse to celebrate and now I have it.

Same here and no problems with clients. I have noticed that the program looks for the default printer, so if you program doesn't open up, you could check the printer or change your default printer as a troubleshooting step. In my case, I had to kill the ATX13 process because my printer was off while my assistant was changing the toner.

I updated and I have rolled over some returns and efiled. No problems at all.

It should be a 1099-R the one he receives.

Correct, per IRS regulations.

Reimbursed only about 5K. That's the IRS limit, so the rest is added to the W2 and it is taxable and qualifies for the Life Learning Experience.
-
He qualified for Life Learning Credit and you should amend 2010 before April 15 and then relax with the other years. I bet you that ONLY after 5K (or something), it showed on his W-2 so repaying his employer $38K should mean something like repaying $20k. Why will you use Schedule A when you can use Life Learning Credit? I see... why you mention that. It is because when he repaid he was not in school. I would amend as much as I can.

The problem with me is that I find out that they are missing something when I am ready to print.

Loss on sale of home...not residence, not rental
Pacun replied to Janitor Bob's topic in General Chat
Where do you report the sale of your primary home? The character of the asset is the one that dictates if the loss is allowed, not the form, correct? I will admit that this is interesting and let's sort it out. Is the attorney correct and she will have loss for 7 years? -
I would do it for a little fee. Just tell him to do a little research of his situation and guide him. He seems to be very smart and you could easily have a person doing research for you for free. "just shows how much one doesn't know." In this field that's the daily struggle. Thanks God for this forum, which reminds me that we should DONATE while supplies last.

The attorney is categorazing it as investment (passive) property. That was wrong. michaelmars got it right. Was she deducting Mortgage interest on Sch A? -
That means that he is doing well. We appreciate his input on this forum but as long as he is doing well, we are happy.

Excess Scholarships and Grants - Making it flow to line 7
Pacun replied to BulldogTom's topic in General Chat
I wonder why the education credit is flowing if "amount paid" should be 0. I only enter a figure there when someone, other than grants or scholarships, pays. -
How long has been in the country and what kind of visa?

Excess Scholarships and Grants - Making it flow to line 7
Pacun replied to BulldogTom's topic in General Chat
Why don't you enter it on line 22 properly labeled? In this case the student will pay taxes on 6K and no credit, correct? -
