    NY E-file

    Got it, thanks.

    NY E-file

All returns, or all NY returns? I read that as NY returns.

    NY E-file

I ended up with a NY return to e-file. ATX has a "warning" so I checked the NY website. It seems if you file more that 5 returns you must e-file. Do I have that right? Since this is my only NY tax return, I assume I can e-file it with no problems. I tried calling NY and got stuck in a phone tree, the same tree for a couple of different numbers. If I need to register, can you direct to the correct phone number or url so I can get this done. Thanks.
  6. My policy was an invoice to the client (after a telephone call) of 1/4 hour and the bank charge. If they was a good reason, I would take off the 1/4 hour.
  7. I am sorry for you loss. May God bless you and yours in this difficult time.
  8. The 941 request is for a non-client. I simply received an e-mail with a question in it and suggested the 4506-T. The 941 is not listed on that form. I am trying to redeam myself. To be honest I would prefer not to ask them for a POA. Is there an alternate request method available to me. I guess they could send a letter requesting the transcript.
  9. How do you get a copy of a 2010 941? Form 4506-T doesn't seem to fit.
  10. One thing you might look at is whether anybody was allowed in without the "contribution." If the answer is no, it was more clearly a fee. If the answer is yes, it probably was a contribution.
  11. Generally, most pastors have the role of CEO for the church. Many are even so designated in the constitution or by-laws. Pastors are generally consider to be common law employees for income tax purposes, therefore requiring a W-2. They are considered self-employed for FICA/MC purposes. Therefore, they are subject to the SE tax (if they have not been exempted from the system on clergy income). Whether they receive a W-2 or 1099, theyor would, generally, be eligible for a housing allowance. I would suggest that you review your clergy returns. You may easily find that most of them would receive a income tax benefit for having a housing allowance. I have seen very few case where it has not been a benefit. Unless they do not have a taxable income, the housing allowance will be a benefit to them. JMHO.
  12. No 1099 is required because of the dollar amount. It is taxable. The money was solicited to recognize the speaker for the help/sermon he did for them. I know many ministers who come to churches with no promised payment/honorariums/gifts amount promised. They are simply being compensated for services rendered.
  13. A simple suggestion or two. Go through the entire test before you go back and research any answers. In that way you will ensure you get through the entire test and will be able to maximize the results. Secondly, 95% of the time your first answer is the correct answer. Don't over think the questions or answers. I took the test and did not miss a question using the above procedure (well, they didn't say I missed any, at least:>)
  14. Hmmm. I am assuming that since I passed and with no evidence to the contrary that I DID NOT MISS ANY QUESTIONS!!! That's my story and I am sticking to it!
  15. Question: Does the federal extension prevent the assessment of the OR failure-to-file penalty? I seem to conflicting written material.
  16. I disagree. As a prior IRS auditor, all I ever wanted was what was requested. The only time I ever had to get additional information was when the required information, docs or forms where not originally provided or unclear. Additional information just gummed up the works and slowed down what I was doing because I had to wade through it to ensure some info that was necessary was not buried in the nonrequested information,
  17. I read somewhere there is an 8% failure rate. Now if I can just remember where I saw that. So just rumor so far.
  18. . ....which may be why there is no real effective address matching program.
  19. Yes, I saw that. I don't see that impacting me, however, because I do not do any advertising.
  20. I just received in the mail my RTRP diploma(?) I assume this means I can now also use the RTRP designation?
  21. I have been recommending similar statements for years for churches. I do like the phrasing.
  22. If a donor stipulates that a contribution be spent on a designated individual, no deduction ordinarily is allowed unless the church exercises full control over the donated funds. That is, the church has full authority to ensure those funds are spent per it's wishes for the furtherance of their mission or exempt purpose.
