HUGE retainer (cash only) upfront!! Tell the owners that the "straightening out" will be expensive due to your fees and the IRS penalties and interest involved. Stick to that!! Since you are aware of what has and has not been happening, if you prepare any returns that are not following the rules, you put your head on the chopping block. If they balk at your pricing, hand them their documentation and wish them a good day. If they try to convince you to do other than the correct steps... RUN FORREST RUN!!! Note: Incompetence or total disregard for the tax laws on their part, does NOT constitute ANY responsibility on your part to "fix" the mess or continue the deceptive practices.

I have never had an incident with my ring while I was working because I NEVER wore/wear my ring when doing any kind of mechanical work whether automotive or even fix-ups around the house. Same with a wrist watch. I was a quick study on that one back in 1974!!

Personal extension being accepted for S-corp?
Jack from Ohio replied to Jack from Ohio's topic in General Chat
The client has received NO communication from the IRS between Feb 2013, when the letter was mailed, and the notice today stating they have been turned over to the ACS. She has NOT received a rejection letter concerning either of the two letters she sent. -
Personal extension being accepted for S-corp?
Jack from Ohio replied to Jack from Ohio's topic in General Chat
The letter was from the client, and I did write one using the timely filed returns and K-1s being timely submitted. -
Thirty years as an auto technician. I NEVER wore my ring at work. When in tech school, we saw a film clip about "degloving" of fingers and worse. Didn't take much to convince me never to do mechanical work with my ring on!!

Tax year 2011. Extensions for personal and S-corp were both mailed. IRS sent penalty letter saying S-Corp was late. We responded with copy of the extension. (not sent certified) IRS contends that the 7004 was not received. Personal return was refunds, so there was no need to verify if the IRS received the personal extension. I recall hearing in a seminar that the IRS would accept the personal extension for the S-corp as well. I cannot find the reference material, but I am certain the speaker told this. He even gave the wording to use in the letter. We sent a letter to the Appeals Coordinator referencing IRC 6651 and documenting that all K-1s were issued timely and all shareholders' returns were filed timely with all taxes paid. This letter was sent 2-18-13. Client received no more letters till yesterday. The notice received is simply the IRS sending the amount they say she owes for late filing to ACS. No letters in response to the letter to the Appeals Coordinator. I have faith that this lady did not receive any letters during that time because, when it comes to the IRS, she is as nervous as a long tailed cat at a rocking chair convention. Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. For the record, we mailed the 7004 from our office, not certified, so I know it was sent.

Become such a thorn in their side that you can send an e-mail, and they call you within 30-90 minutes. That is how I managed to get the tech support I needed. -
Does anyone know an IRS phone number to reach a human?
Jack from Ohio replied to elfling's topic in General Chat
The IRS has reduced phone help staff. Dial again and play the game again. No other way I know of. The practitioner priority line that MAS gave you may be a little better, but still expect long wait times. -
Discount for Dependent Children of Clients?

Then you way undercharged her. My fees would have been higher, even without seeing her previous bills. "Failure to plan on your part, does not create an emergency situation on mine." When people bring us multiple years to do, 99.99% of the time, the reason is: "I just did not have time." I have learned to bite my tongue when that is said to me and simply increase my fees. Last I knew, April 15 happens every year at the same time. -

You must play the automated system and wait... (gives the NSA time to adjust their equipment...) -

Yes. I have not been a fan of WIN8 since I demo tested it immediately after it was released. I spent 5 minutes on a laptop with WIN8 and made my statement about it being the latest "Vista." History has borne me out on my observation and decision.
-
Disagree totally. WIN8 is the latest VISTA. It is my skip OS. Even Microsoft backed off making WIN8 the required OS for new computers. WIN9 developers are scrapping the entire WIN8 profile with those stupid tiles, etc. Going back to the Windows format everyone knows.

Stick with WIN 7PRO 64 bit. 16GB or more RAM, the highest speed the motherboard will use. I do NOT care for your choice of supplier. 256GB SSD with a 2TB second hard drive. I don't think Dell will let you order a custom configuration without selling you a bunch of stuff you don't need. I have a source if you are interested. Message me. The last 5 computers I have purchased have been from them.
