DIVORCE vs. MURDER A nice, calm and respectable lady went into the pharmacy, walked up to the pharmacist, looked straight into his eyes, and said, "I'd like to buy some cyanide." The pharmacist asked, "Why in the world do you need cyanide?" The lady replied, "I need it to poison my husband." The pharmacist's eyes got big and he explained, "Lord have mercy! I can't give you cyanide to kill your husband, that's against the law! I'll lose my license! They'll throw both of us in jail! All kinds of bad things will happen. Absolutely not! The lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of her husband in bed with the pharmacist's wife. The pharmacist looked at the picture and said, "You didn't tell me you had a prescription..."

1. From the IRS website http://www.irs.gov/uac/Newsroom/IRS-Operations-During-The-Lapse-In-Appropriations , Is the IRS continuing to issue levies or liens during this period? During the lapse in appropriations, the IRS is not sending out levies or liens - either those generated systemically or those manually generated by employees. The IRS notes that taxpayers may still receive levy or lien correspondence with October mailing dates, but those notices were printed before IRS shut down operations were fully complete. (It is standard practice for these notices to be printed with a future date to allow for mailing time to reach taxpayers.) In addition, the IRS notes that other letters related to liens and levies such as notifications that a taxpayer could potentially be subject to a lien or a levy at a future date continue to be automatically generated by IRS systems during the appropriations lapse. However, the IRS emphasizes that these notices are not actual levies or liens; just a notification of potential future action. For more information on the IRS collection process, see Publication 594, the IRS Collection Process. 2. For additional information, see the attached article (from Accounting Today).

Call this morning.... "4 years ago I bought a rental property with money I withdrew from my 401K and I started a business in my home as well fixing computers. I filed a 1040EZ for the last 3 years. I need to get this mess fixed. Can you get this fixed for me by Tuesday so I can file by the deadline? I did file an extension." I have an appointment with her Saturday, October 19 at 10:00AM. Big upfront cash retainer will be the first subject of discussion.

Which about your left arm?
-
You mean political discussions have rules?
-
Close all the political forums.
-
I have not tried to access e-services since July. It is my understanding that the whole e-services program was dead due to insufficient number of people using it. Maybe someone else has accessed it very recently??
-
It is automated, other than a moderator issuing a warning. Shut it down. That will free up lots of time for the mods.
-
Shut down the political forum. If all the people in the political forum are that ultrasensitive, I vote to shut it down. How can a person discuss political topics and tiptoe through the tulip fields full of people with tissue paper feelings without hurting them at the same time. First it was created so the discussions could be ignored by all those that did not want to hear it, now the whiners (who don't exercise the American freedom of not reading) are making a huge stink about the very thing the forum was designed for. I vote to close the political forum.

Since the demise of e-services, there is no way other than getting 2848 and calling for a transcript.

Just as Taxman60601 said, the ATX 2012 Payroll program includes ALL 1099 forms, including e-file capability. The Payroll program was included as part of the ATX package for 2012 at no additional charge. In fact, when installing 2012, you were asked if you wanted to install it. It works just fine.
-
Sent you a message.
-
Are you using ATX?
-
I use ATX to print all 1099 forms.
-
Yes it was a $15K discount after I told the salesperson I was an ATX user looking at other options.
-
I was quoted about $20K. We do returns from all 50 states, and the state add-ons were the deal breaker.

I would like to hear from others on this board that actually work for a large scale operation and hear the thoughts from others that are actually running a large scale TAX PREPARATION FIRM. Until then, I stand by my statements. Make fun all you wish.
-
John H, While your scenario for a high volume company looks and sounds good on paper, the scenario has NO basis in reality. Until you have operated and been part of a large scale operation, you cannot fathom the reality of why it will not work.
-
I told him face to face and I made sure he understood what I said. Now whether he did or will care is another question entirely.
-
I told the new President of ATX those very words.
-
Agree. And if they are trying to avoid "...a payroll audit.", what are they trying to hide? That kind of mentality would give me pause about retaining them as a client. Fly straight, fly right with no reason to look over their shoulder.

I have big shoulders, an amazing wife that loves me, my man card is NOT in danger and despite all the comments directed at me.... "I have survived much larger threats and insults from far more capable people than the ones on this site."
