  1. next time he should sit next to alec baldwin
  2. its not really a good question because what you do changes the rate so drastically. do you prepare fin statements? do audits? accounting? offer investment advise? Just do taxes? there are so many variables.
  3. Kim does give some tech help but she preaches the company line, i don't understand why everyone on the other board seems to kiss her *ss. She is just doing her job and her loyalties are to cch not the users.
  4. is the extra costing you extra money? time for everyone to pony up to the bar again!
  5. aicpa policy 2 mil of coverage cost $1000 per year with a higher deductible and i don't do certified audits.
  6. curious, if the 401k doesn't allow the repayment, can she put it into an ira within the 60 days?
  7. http://www.atxsucks.com/ some one started this website the other day and posted it to the other board.
  8. didn't think your comments were more over the top than any others. and i agree that since they direct you to and advertise the boards as a support tool then you have a case. they can't on their phones tell you to use the boards then ban you. BTW, William once banned me and i wound up with the next years program free. i was ranting about the idiot support people and after a BBB complaint i got a VP to call me back. he actually offered that if i was right and his printing programmer wrong i would get next year free. He kept his word and emailed me the next day that yes the program has a development issue and my software would be free the following year. keep at it, you do get results.
  9. it is gone, ooops i mean it has been enhanced!
  10. or they can send you the password in a separate email
  11. run away from this, you do have a license to protect
  12. Easier to dispute the credit card charge if its in the same month as the order, also you can see the boards first before you make a monetary and time commitment. Some people can't afford to wind up paying for 2 programs and then waiting for refund that may or may not come. I held off and never got atx this year due to all the comments so avoided much of the agravation that the rest of you unfortunately went or are going through..
  13. i got the proseries complete library for $2000 locked in for 5 years, they are giving 40-60% of regular prices, negotiate with them
  14. the problem with the program is that the programmers couldn't find the office because they used apple maps
  15. TOTALLY agree with Jack, only once did i have an agent look at the tax bill, usually they just look at the 1098. Besides, our bills here are on fiscal years so getting the correct deduction would be a process for a $100-$200 adjustment to average tax bills of $$10-15.00
  16. WE always fill it out since it will automatically protect you from an audit. so for a few bucks you can avoid the risk of your internet purchases being audited.
  17. NY had it too on its return for a bout 4-5 years now
  18. THANKS SCL but i am not leaving the board, just leaving atx for this year at least.
  19. Welcome to the club, a few years ago William banned me too for blasting tech support [i was so frustrated] but after a BBB complaint i got a call from a VP and after i bet him i was right and his programmer wrong i got reinstated and got the next year program for free. He was honorable and lived up to the bet we made. Anyway, i feel for those that get banned
  20. we used pro fx for many years but switched to lacerte 2 years ago. Lacerte wanted $6-9,000 just to add me as a second office here for my personal clients. Proseries cost me $2,000 for the highest program and they locked the price for 5 years.
  21. for individuals i have usually paid 100% of the sellers last billing and for businesses 125-150%. I give as small a down payment as possible and then go for a 4 or 5 year payout crediting the down payment however you agree. You get to keep 1005 of any fee increases and if you lose the client you stop paying for them. Especially with businesses, you need to see if any are near retirement age etc. My biggest purchase said that if i lost the client after 2 years then it was assumed to be my fault and i still had to pay something on them but individuals if they left i stopped paying. I want the seller to guarentee me a certain number of hours for consulting because some business owners want to see seller involvement for a smooth transition. i would go for something like [depending on practice size etc] 3 hours a week for this tax season included in sales price [for meetings and phone consults] and a consulting fee of $xx for X amount of hours for the next 3 months.
  22. i add that : I have no idea if the client later on amended his filing and that his income can be verified with the IRS directly.
  23. The posts says she started this last year so its to late to retroactively elect corp status so for 2012 she defaults to a sch C. Your advise about exploring options certainly is smart for future years.
  24. this is a great forum and i will still be around but i made the switch to Proseries on Wed. Just waiting for my conversion files to come back. 10,000 topics is huge, this forum really filled a void, stayed open and professional and friendly for years. -Michael.
