  1. Is this still going on? Still seems like a delay.
  2. Is AnswerConnect included with the Advantage product? I have the Total Tax product. I have both Inelliconnect and CodeConnect included. If I log into Intelliconnect directly, there is a link to CodeConnect. But when I'm in the ATX program and click on Tax Research, it takes me to CodeConnect and there is no link to go to Intelliconnect. It seems if I want to use Intelliconnect, I have to log in directly and not thru the tax program.
  3. Is AnswerConnect more complete than Intelliconnect?
  4. I have the Total Tax Office package. I think that is the 2nd top level under Advantage that adds a little more. Is Answer Connect the same as Code Connect? When I click on Tax Research inside the program it shows a notice that I am being redirected from Answer Connect to Code Connect. So I was wondering if that is just a re-naming. Then there's Intelliconnect. I can access by going directly to the site but not thru the software program anymore.
  5. What is the difference between CodeConnect and Intelliconnect? When in the program, clicking on the Tax Research button, it takes me to CodeConnect after first going to something called AnswerConnect. I can go to Intelliconnect directly on line but not while in the ATX program. Then there is the hovering over a line on a form while in ATX. This takes me to a tax research where you have to fill in some boxes but the year 2017 is not available. This doesn't see to do much for me.
  6. I don't charge by the form. I do keep a time sheet but don't charge strictly by an hourly rate. I have a minimum of $100 for a simple return, $150 for a simple Sch A return. I suppose 'simple' can vary. I quote the minimum and ask a few questions, quote a range and tell them it could be higher depending on their circumstances.
  7. Seems like a given. What seems like a good idea still has to be formatted somehow.
  8. But sometimes, we need a little dippity doo daa!

    Drake tax planner

I haven't heard anything official for ATX but I assume there will be a delay before we can use it.
  10. Notice the footnote. 'Subject to interpretation by IRS. Be sure to consult your tax professional.' Ha. We are the tax professionals.
  11. Can an employee still request a flat dollar withholding in addition to whatever the table shows? Seems like they could do so in the past without trying to navigate the W4.

    HSA vs 401k

Not so sure. I'll have to look up sometime.
  13. Not sure of your specific example. But I was wondering too about a couple with children. Joint standard deduction goes up but they lose the personal exemptions. Maybe for some, the child credits increase.
  14. Pacun, thanks. I had already done the import though. Abby, thanks for the info. These tiles appear at the top and looks like the number is limited to 8. By default, they will show the most recent. I can pin a tile to show up all the time. This looks helpful but limited. The previous W8 IE11 showed the Favorites drop down list in the form of tiles at the bottom of the screen and allowed sorting into sub-categories just as the Edge drop down list does.
  15. Yes, this is what I was looking for, tiles within the browser.
  16. It's under Windows Accessories in the list of apps. It opens up the IE browser but it doesn't help. With Win8, within the browser, there was star at the bottom. When I clicked the star, a row of tiles popped up across the bottom showing my favorite websites. In Win10, using the IE, this function isn't there. There is the star in upper right which gives me a pop down list of favorites. This feature is also in Edge. No tiles of favorites across the bottom. Oh well.
  17. I don't mind Edge (so far). I was just looking for a way to show the favorites as tiles across the bottom of the screen (instead of the pop down list).
  18. I'm trying to get used to my Win10 desktop. I liked the tiles of Win8. Win10 seems to have a combo look. My question is for the browser. Win8 used IE11 I think. It had the website tiles at the bottom to quickly go to my most common websites. With Win 10 using the Edge browser, I don't see the tiles. There's a pop down list for favorites but is there a way to display the tiles for favorites?

    HSA vs 401k

I'm not sure what you mean by the FICA connection with HSAs. I don't know if the HSA plan is thru the employer but individual HSA contributions are after FICA or SE tax. Also with HSAs, I don't think health insurance premiums are a qualified expense for HSA money. So if you are thinking about the HSA money used in retirement, you'll need to use on qualified medical expenses or it will be taxable.
  20. Yes, while they were hashing it out the past few months, I didn't pay much attention. But once the joint committee approved and Corker & Rubio got on board, it was highly probable. Senate has passed it, House will re-vote today. President will sign. It's time to review it and discuss it. I received a summary from Parker after the joint committee approved it and skimmed thru it, the first time I gave it any attention.
  21. The immediate concerns for IRS and us is what might be in it that pertains to 2017.
  22. Maybe this week or die.
  23. I think 1040 Sch A Misc deductions subject to 2% floor.
  24. I'm not sure but isn't that standard practice? The new insurer covers the past years. Then when you retire, I think they offer some extension for a year or two (extra premium of course).
  25. Do you mean query within ATX or a query on this forum? If ATX, where and how?
