Parker Tax sends two emails a month with their service. I also continue to subscribe to the old PPC Tax Action Bulletins which come twice a month.
-
Hopefully we'll know the final outcome in two weeks. Pro or con.

I do two things with ATX. I copy the backup files and I export (from within the program) the files. I do this from my c drive to my internal 2nd hd. And I do this to an external hd.

Are you allowed to do this when it's registered with the old machine? How can they sell this? If it is a download version, how do they get this and resell? or whatever?

Anyone using Office 365? I'm planning to purchase a new computer for my office. I have a laptop I use mostly at home and I'm not replacing that. I currently have Office Pro 2013 on both my office desktop and my laptop. I'm thinking it would be better and cheaper to subscribe to Office 365 than to get the latest Office Pro 2016 on my HD. Any pros and cons on Office 365?

Does the S1500 scan drivers licenses and other hard thick plastic items? My S500 wouldn't let it thru.

Good question. I've been using Bit Locker on my 8.1 machine. But I have my laptop (8.1) encrypted with Symantec. I have the Symantec software on my office machine. I like their shredding function of files.
-
Not sure what you're talking about but I think you can just encrypt certain files, can't you?
-
Whew. I think we're approaching too big NOT to fail. Even when I bought my 8.1 three years ago, Symantec was not ready to use on my HD. So I used Bit Locker. I haven't had any problems with updates. It looks like I'll use Bit Locker on my new computer Win 10.

I have an old Fujitsu ScanSnap S500. Been working for 10 years. I have to be careful not to feed too many sheets at once. That's not been a problem for me. Neither has the lack of Twain compliance. When I got my Win 8.1 computer, the S500 had no driver updates and I had to do something to make it think it was working on Win7. So it has continued to work for me. I'm thinking of getting a new Win 10 computer. So I'm thinking my old S500 won't work with it. Is the Twain compliance really needed? What are your needs for Twain. I don't need the super speed and I can continue to feed a few pages at a time. I'm thinking the S1500 or whatever updated equivalent Fujitsu has will do fine for me.

Regarding the encryption, are you saying anyone with Win 10 should not use Symantec Disc Encryption (I think this is the old PGP)? Is anyone else using Symantec Disc Encryption with Win 10? Are you using Bit Locker? I have a Win 8.1 machine using Bit Locker. I asked Symantec when I first purchased my 8.1 and they said they weren't ready for my HD model. Anyone using Win 10 with Bit Locker having trouble with updates? I'm thinking of getting a new computer soon with Win 10 so I am interested in any problems.

Has anyone else noticed this? For the comparison schedule to show Sch C, E, F, you get a popup saying you need ATX Advantage for this. But if you print the comparison schedule, it prints not only page 1 & 2 and Sch A, but also Sch C, E, F (without having Advantage). But this only works the first time. If you try to print this a 2nd time, it only prints page 1 & 2 and Sch A. Weird.

I never understood the incentive. Does a business hire someone to get a tax credit? Or does a business hire someone because they need the additional person to get the work done?

You guys are full of good news. I was wondering if a request for a waiver of the 75 days (March 15) requirement would work. Since 2017 is the first year and no returns have been filed yet, I'm hoping they'll approve.

Is there any way to revoke an S election retroactive to Jan 1, 2017? Client made election without talking to me. He has two other LLCs taxed as S Corps, which is ok. But for a 3rd LLC with rental real estate, he made the S election. We need to revoke it back to Jan 1, 2017

This one I wouldn't do at all. I'm too old to sort thru all that.

I agree. Too big to fail is becoming too big NOT to fail.

I just thought the basis had more to do with the shareholder's personal return and so I thought I should provide it with the K-1. Most of mine are one or two shareholders and I do their personal returns. There have been a few times in the past that a shareholder had their personal return done elsewhere.
-
I provide the basis worksheet with the Schedule K-1 for each shareholder/partner, but not with the entity return.
-
Too late for the original poster, but I think you have to call ATX support and they have to do something on their end to open a 'front door' so a 2nd return can be efiled.

As long as we're relating TP stories, when I was in the Navy on an aircraft carrier, the stalls had a side fixture for tp. But they didn't put the tp there. They strung a chain along the back overhead down a row of stalls. Then put the tp rolls on the chain and arranged them so a couple of rolls were in back of each stall. You had to stand up, turn around and reach back to the tp for the job. Up and down several times to complete the necessary work. This is not a joke.
-
And have you noticed the larger size of the cardboard rolls the paper is wrapped around? Seems the diameter is twice the size as it used to be. Makes the rolls look larger but maybe less paper.
-
No way I'd take this on. I'd send to a tax attorney specialist.

Gollum needs some dental work. Too many candy bars I guess.

My plans fell thru too. They say Cincinnati is also in the totality ban in 2024.
